SINCLAIR BULLET SEATING DEPTH TOOL

SINCLAIR BULLET SEATING DEPTH TOOL Reviews & Ratings

SINCLAIR BULLET SEATING DEPTH TOOL

The Sinclair Bullet Seating Depth Tool has been used for decades by handloaders seeking the most accuracy out of their rifles. Our newest model is made from one fourth inch ground and polished stainless steel with one end turned down for use with 17 and 20 caliber rifles and the other end used for 22 caliber and up. This tool helps you determine the length of a loaded round touching the rifling.

The Sinclair Seating Depth Tool will work with most bolt action, single shot and AR type rifles. The tool includes a Delrin action guide suitable for most bolt-action rifles (0.690” Diameter fits Remingtons, Savages, Winchesters, and many Rugers). For the most accurate measurement, the Sinclair Bullet Seating Depth Tool uses your fireformed brass and bullets so you can expect an exact measurement, every time.

Also available are guides use in AR-15's, AR-10's, and Tubb's 2000's. The guide is a little different than our standard bolt-action guides. This guide inserts into the back of the upper receiver (with the bolt removed). The tool is then used as normal.

For best results couple this tool with our Bullet Comparators and a good set of calipers to get repeatable and precise Base-To-Ogive measurements.

Works Greats
I bought this after a recommendation by an accomplished shooter/reloader...it worked perfectly on my small frame AR...my measurements were .002 different from the Loctite method...I'll pick up another one for the AR10.

Great product
Use the correct guide as instructed and follow the easy instructions and you get the dimensions necessary to set your bullet seating depth accurately and consistently.

great tool
i accurize ammunition and firearms all the time and this tool is an invaluable object while doing this it has always been extremely accurate and if anyone has a fault with it they probably could not understand the simple instructions that came with it. the only problem i have with it is that it didn't come with the other bullet seating depth gages, but that was ok since Brownells had them all.

Easy and accurate
I now use this & the Hornady to compare readings. You need to do a little math and extra measurements to get Apple-to-Apple but what Ive discovered is the 2 are very close, giving me a comfort level I didnt have before. Now I might just use the Sinclair exclusively and do the Hornady occasionally for confirmation.

Simple to use and Accurate
Simple to use and does not require a special case. Well thought out tool which is simple and works great. I am a competitive shooter VFS BR and F-Class, I am also a rifle smith and a retired engineer. Follow the instructions and you will have a COL (cartridge overall length). We competitive shooters know that this is a useless measurement for consistent bullet seating depth therefore we must add the following step to get our CBTO (cartridge base to ojive) dimension. 1. Use the same bullet in which you measured the OVL and use a Sinclair Bullet Comparators with a good set of digital calipers to get the bullet base to Ogive dimension. 2. Subtract that measurement from the bullet OVL you used for the COL, this is the dimension from the bullet tip to the ojive. 3. Once you have the COL as per the instructions just subtract the dimension from the bullet tip to the ojive. You now have the Cartridge Base-To-Ogive CBTO measurement to set you bullet depth. Pros about this tool: 1. is you do not need a custom cartridge for your chamber to get this measurement. I have the other tool in which you use a custom cartridge, or you make you own custom cartridge assuming you have a lathe and the correct tap. 2. you are using a fireformed case.

Best of this type Ive tried
Im a millwright/machinist by trade and regularly work with precise tolerances. I prefer Starrett tools to make my living. Sinclair is the Starrett gold-standard for reloading in my opinion. I tried the hornady stuff and found it to be cheap, aluminum, plastic, and measurements were not repeatable or precise. Other gauges of this type I looked at appeared to be worse than the hornady. This one works well. Dont risk your safety or waste your time or money on a cheaper alternative.

Money well spent
This product is simple and made from good materials. The first time I used it I shot a 0.165" group at 100 yards. That's pretty good for a 35 caliber hunting rifle. My load development consisted of seven rounds. Two charge weights. One fouler. Two three shot groups. The second group was money.

Works great!
I bought this to use on my AR-10 and it worked just fine with 175g Sierra Match King BTHP bullets. I also bought the AR-10 insert. I will be using this on my new bolt gun to achieve proper seating depth. Great product!

Works Great
Only problem I had was. I didn't get the case fully setted in the chamber. Finally used the bolt to seat the case fully and got good readings. Nothing to break or wear out will last for ever.
