Second attempt to review.....
This is my second attempt to review this product. Brownells has some sort of business relationship with Sinclair, which may be why my first review was never published here. I gave it 1 start, because it did not function as it should. When placed in the vise, the locking lugs of the bolt sit flush and square with the bottom of the vise opening. Unfortunately, when held in this position, the horizontal axis of the bolt is not properly aligned with the axis of the screw which is supposed to depress the ejector for removal. The bolt sits approx. .040", (I didn't measure this, just an eyeball estimate), too high, and the screw tightens against the locking face, instead of the breech face. Tried this on a Ruger AR-556 stock bolt, and a WMD aftermarket bolt, neither lined up properly in the tool. I am an experienced shooter, and a retired LEO firearms instructor. I thought this tool might make bolt disassembly a little less awkward. I really wanted it to work, but unfortunately it did not, and was returned.
Disappointed
Unfortunately, the vise I received didn't work correctly. The screw mechanism was not tapped straight but slightly downwards causing the screw mechanism to hit the inner edge of the bolt blocking it from compressing the ejector pin. It was tried on 2 bolts, one worked the other didn't. The bolt that it worked on had was noticeably thinner between lugs than the one that didn't work. Based on appearances the bolt that failed to work on, the one with thicker metal between lugs would appear to be a stronger design and long lasting. It would be impossible to predict if it would work on any given bolt. Returned for refund and purchased the YM vise for more money but better quality control.
