Heavy and Compact The Sinclair Competition Rest’s foundation begins with a one inch, solid steel base plate with a durable granite powder coat finish. This enables us to achieve a massive unit – over 30 pounds - with the lowest center of gravity, combined with a footprint that’s no larger than other tripod rests currently on the market. It’s nearly twice as heavy as our closest competitor.

Mobile Most shooting rests by design, are awkward and difficult to manage and maneuver. We solved this by machining a carry handle into the base plate for easy transport, making the Sinclair Competition Rest one of the most mobile units available,in spite of its enormous weight. No tacky looking handles or impossible two-arm lift methods are needed. Effortless Operation The Sinclair Competition Rest has the windage operation built directly into the base plate. It incorporates dual sets of twin tapered roller bearings for an effortless, non-binding windage operation. The oversized windage control knob is positioned near the rear speed screw where simultaneous one-handed adjustment is easily achievable. Nearly four feet of windage adjustment is offered at 100 yards – enough for any bench shooting discipline. The oversized, fluted handwheel also offers smooth vertical adjustment with the aid of a thrust bearing. A non-windage-adjustable model is available for shooters who prefer to adjust windage off the rear bag or do not have a need for the windage adjustable base block. Ambidextrous Design The unique construction of this windage unit platform enables an entirely ambidextrous set-up for right or left handed shooters. The post, center column, controls and windage adjustment disassemble and reassemble on the opposite side, for a completely mirrored, left hand use.

Hardware for Hard Wear The Sinclair Competition Rest includes upgraded hardware: a beefed up center column (1.95" up from 1.375"); threaded post (1" diameter up from ¾"); leg screws (½" diameter up from 3⁄8"); and large diameter fluted speed screw – all made from high grade stainless steel to withstand a lifetime of abuse. All knob controls and handwheel are machined from aluminum then anodized or powder coated to provide a durable grip surface for all adjustments.

Topping Perfection The Sinclair Competition Rest is completed with our Benchrest Top with new lockable forend stop assembly. Our Benchrest Top accepts both Edgewood and Protektor front bags in sporter, varmint, and benchrest configurations. The new lockable forend stop unit is adjustable for length (fore-aft), height, and cant. Our benchrest top is both NBRSA and IBS approved for competition shooting. The Sinclair Competition Rest is also available with our All-Purpose Top which features our updated Sinclair designed Edgewood Bag, easy adjust lockable bag ears and new forend stop. This top is an excellent choice for all Rimfire Benchrest competitions, particularly Sporter Rifle Class, as well as those wishing to attain the highest level of accuracy from all of their rifles.

Accessories The Sinclair Competition Rest includes mounting holes for aftermarket accessories you may wish to entertain. Such as our Port Level Ammo Block which enables the shooter to adjust their tray of 20 rounds of PPC or BR wherever needed. Move it close to your rifle port for fast shooting.

Competition front rest with adjustable windage

Great front rest after graduating from a Caldwell. I won matches with a Caldwell and am winning matches with this rest. MUCH more stable than a Caldwell. Really in a whole nuther league. I shot a friends first generation SEB and did not care for it. They are much improved in later generations but two to three times the price of this rest. I put a Protektor model bag with 3m slick silver material in the cradle. Bought another cradle that I put a Edgewood bag in. The windage adjustment is a little loose feeling on mine. That can probably be fixed but I have not had the time to look into it.

Competition Shooting Rest

I had the furtune of trying a number of other high end adjustable front rests prior to purchasing the Sinclair. I have come to expect tight tolerences and great performance from Sinclair products and this rest is a joy to use, it is very stable, holds point of aim, and has exceptionally smooth windage and elevation adjustments. I didn't try every rest prior to purchasing this one but I don't think there is a better product in the same price range.

Great product

I use this front rest for everything from Pama style target rifles to my light hunting rifles. The rest is very solid, has a great range of adjustment and has excellent fine windage and elevation adjustment controls. The only real fault is the fore end stop, it's too high for most of my sporting rifles and contacts the barrel before the fore end sits down on the front bag.

form and function no need to spend more

I was looking for a rest to be used in short range benchrest score competition. I needed it to be solid, easy to use, and mobile. I had been using the Gen II sinclair rest before and found this unit to be superior. The windage knob is well placed and and a quick 1/2-3/4 turn and you are on the record bull from the sighter. My shooting position is not disturbed, and I can make fine adjustments to both windage and elevation simultaneously. The only issue I have so far is that the center column cannot be locked down well enough so that movement of the handwheel will still raise the top despite the locking screw being tightened. there does not appear to be any movement in the top when shooting, but I feel that it should be able to be locked down better. The speed screw works well and does not have the chatter when moving up and down that my previous speed screw had. The forend stop will hit the handwheel at the very lowest position. A delrin washer would be an easy fix to this issue and should be considered for future models.

Bags do not fit

Recommended Protektor front bag but the ear do not open wide enough for the bag to fit.

Top bag

I do not recommend the top bag as shown, you are best served with a fixed bag. This bag as shown is universal and is lacking in adequate clamping adjustment for sporting rifles. It needs a three piece setup to allow you to properly secure the rifle. It would also be nice if changing the bag was less cumbersome. That being said it is not a bad unit just not a great one.

Sinclair short on quality control

Received the rest a few weeks ago. Well packaged. My son and a fellow shooter who has an older model Sinclair rest wet to task putting it together. I had noted some remarks about the finish of the coating on the heavy steel base. Mine appeared to be good and I moved on. Well my relief was short lived. Two of the three holes on the base were not threaded well, and had the finish material down in them. This mad it impossible to screw the feet in. I had even tried to screw them in from underneath hoping to be able to straighten/clean the threads up top. This proved to be futile. I finally had to borrow my friends tap and die set and chase the threads. At first I only noted black material like the finish. Then I noted small metal shavings, indicating that the threads were not done properly at Sinclair. In the end I was able to put it together and it is really a nice rest. Not worth the money if you have to do the quality control and machining that Sinclair should have done.

Disappointed

I had the good fortune of trying several different front rests at a recent IBS Score event that allayed any fears of needing a joystick style rest. Sinclair’s Competition Shooting Rest was a popular choice and it is easy to see why. The platform is solid and is easily adjusted during setup. Windage and elevation controls are conveniently located and all operated smoothly on the rests I tested. Fair warning to anyone looking to purchase though (and the reason for the low rating), build quality has deteriorated substantially. Silver anodizing is cloudy, black anodizing is splotchy and the internal packing is so poor, expect to receive your new rest in used condition appearing as if a dog has chewed it. Time will tell if these are merely cosmetic issues or the inattention extends to either the mechanics or precision of the rest received.
