SHOTGUN BARREL POLISHING FLEX HONE® Reviews & Ratings

Hundreds of abrasive "balls" mounted on a flexible shaft - the fastest, easiest way we've come across to clean and polish older barrels or put a mirror polish in new ones. For used barrels, the Medium-Coarse hone, followed by the Fine, removes rough and tight spots and brings the bore to a bright finish that you can see and feel . . . just run a patch through it before and after; the difference is amazing! We found too, that we could feel tight spots during honing and spend extra time on them until they were evened out. On new barrels, the Fine hone by itself will bring the factory finish up to a beautiful, mirror-bright finish that's a real customer pleaser. Easy to use: chuck in a variable speed electric drill; wet the hone with Flex Hone^® oil; start the drill and insert the hone into the barrel from the breech end (if possible). As it cuts, a slurry of abrasive and oil develops to help speed the cutting action. Flex Hone^® available (shown below) in sets and individual hones for 10, 12, 16 and 20 gauge barrels as well as .410 bore. Also, special-sized hones for 10, 12, 16, 20 gauge chambers and .410 bore. Instructions walk you through the steps for a perfect job. (You MUST use Flex Hone^® oil - all other oils will destroy the abrasive "balls" and void our guarantee!) 750 RPM MAX. polishing stone for antique shotgun

Needed these flex stones to smooth out the chamber of an old antique 16 gauge bolt action shotgun. Worked great and shells go in and out easily now. Glad I added these to my tool chest.

It fixed the feed and extraction issues with my Browning Gold 10 gauge.

9-21-2023 I was having feed and extraction issues with my new Browning Gold 10 gauge. From the factory the chamber and chamber mouth was rough with machining marks and it was causing feed and extraction problems. I followed the directions that came with the tool and used the recommended FLEX-HONE oil. I used my cordless drill and the polishing went very quickly. I was done in less than a minute. Before polishing my gun would only reliably cycle factory loaded Federal Speed-Shok ammo. I hand-load my own ammo for 10 gauge and my once fired but sized Federal hulls had cycling issues. It also wouldn't reliably cycle ammo using new Cheddite hulls. Now it correctly cycles my reloaded Federal hulls and Cheddite hulls. I had somewhat given up on this gun but now it cycles perfectly! I've been using it a little over a week now for early goose season and it has been cycling perfectly. I would recommend this chamber polishing tool to others having cycling issues with a Browning Gold 10.

Works in the barrel not the chamber

This is a quality item but be aware it is for the barrel not the chamber. I was doing the chamber of a double barrel for cowboy action shooting and this was too small a diameter for that.

EASY-PEASY Achieves Great Results!

I have used flex hones in 5 different gauges. They produce excellent results that can be seen as well as felt when pushing a patch through the barrel. This is also a fail safe system for polishing as once the hone achieves the maximum plateauing; additional honing does not harm anything. There is no significant metal moved so no dimensional changes. Although I have used both bore and chamber hones; I think the chamber ones are even more worthwhile because it helps to ease extraction. I think that is especially critical on a semi auto because of the speed that extraction takes place on those. I have also used the chamber hone to polish the internals on Ponsness Warren dies and that made a huge difference in how easily the press operated and the lack of any plastic build up! VERY effective in that use! The only negative I have is that the hones are pricey.

Great Product

Used the to hone the barrels on my Stoeger 12ga Coach gun, before there where some visible tool marks in both barrels, after the barrel are as smooth as glass. The whole process only took about 1 -2 minutes per barrels. The hone appears to be able to be used several time more if you have others to do which is great. Make sure you you only the Flex Hone oil and spin the excess off before doing the hone, this will avoid a mess. Worth every penny!

If you want a mirror like finish this is the way to get it. No swirl lines like the old 2-stone hones. Just make sure to use the right oil.

this took a rather awful looking barrel and made it bright! Two passes with the 180 and two passes with the 800 using the honing oil was all it took.
