Excellent
Brownells has always been Excellent for the past 42 years that I have been a customer
A High-quality stoning fixture for the Professional Gunsmith.
This is a very high-quality stoning fixture for the professional gunsmith.
If you understand how triggers and sears work then this fixture should
be quite easy to use (if you don't then you will most likely have issues).
The Series I and Series II work together each doing part of the job so you will
so most likely need both of them as you encounter various firearms to work on.
The instructions are not bad if you understand how triggers and sears work.
That's most likely why some are running into issues since these fixtures
assume (and require) that you have that understanding to use them.
It's handy that you can buy the additional adapters as needed instead of having to buy them
all at once. You can even make custom adapters for the fixture if you have the capabilities.

The Universal Adapter works with the following:
(Per Power Customs website)
1911 .45 Auto
Browning High Power
Ruger 10-22 ( With Aluminum Trigger Guard)
Ruger SA, DA Revolvers
Sig Sauer P226
Plus Many others
(You just need to try them to see if you can line them up)

Overall this is a great tool for the professional gunsmith
(as long as you understand how triggers and sears work)

I need to say
Ok I'm the guy at the top of the review list and in defence to mr. Powers product's he makes a grate product's and the instructions can't be any more straight forward but I admit I also had difficulty But mr. Powers also has instructional videos and if one cant get it by watching these videos maybe you should leave pistol smithing to the pros you could hurt your self or someone when your pistol go's into full auto, just my opinion. hard to use
this comment is not to knock power custom I use a lot of their tools and fixtures, for a while I've been looking for a fixture or some kind of jig to help square the hammer hooks on 1911 hammers I'm getting on the high side of age and not doing well with hand filing the hooks so I watched Mr. Powers videos and thought I'd give it a go and with Brownell's I couldn't go wrong, I got it in the mail and started in working on the fixture wright away I tried and tried but I guess I'm just not capable, I'm not blaming the tool its me that just couldn't work it, the tool is made very well made as for all power custom tolls are but it was to be for me, thank you Mr. Powers keep it up. Charlie
Good Fixture If you Understand How
Let me start by saying that this tool is really part of a set the Power Custom 1 and 2 stoning fixtures. In my case I use the series 1 for Stoning Sears and the series 2 for Stoning the Hammer hooks where they engage the Sear. Together they offer excellent control when modifying or reconstructing these important surfaces. You should have experience and expert knowledge of the required dimensional specifications before altering or recreating the factory set geometry for either Hammer or Sear. You can accomplish either task without the tools but they do make it easier to replicate your work. Not a novice tool!
"Excellent Product, East and Accurate"
Just Received yesterday, looked it over and realized they shipped the large pin adapter, no problem just turned a new pin on the lathe. Now I'm set up for both large and small pins. I did two trigger jobs this morning in short order, after doing the first job I basically dialed it up and got exact results on the second job. No Problem getting a crisp trigger pull under 3#'s on AR Platform.
The best Jig Built
This jig does it all and if it does not get the Series I and then you have no excuse. Adapters are very affordable and pay for themselves the first job and the just do not wear out. Completely adjustable but will hold absolute zero when removing the hammer or sear and then returning it. Great instructions included. A must have for any gunsmith or serious hobby smith.
Great Tool- How do you use it?
The first reviewer got this exactly right. This is a heavy, solid tool, with great adjustments (height has ball detent). Don't expect to be able to make this work from the instructions. They're not much help. e.g. Instructions referred to index mark on adapter that wasn't there. Steep learning curve is right. I t took me several months, working sporadically to get this thing to work. If it hadn't been for a photo of a sear mounted on it I found online, I might have still been trying to figure it out. Someone needs to make a video of how to use this great tool. That being said, this tool does a perfect job. Well worth the money.
Very nice, but somewhat complicated
This fixture is great if you have several (a dozen or more) triggers that need stoning, therefore its best for the gunsmith and not the casual hobbist. It does take some getting used to, but the instructions are clear, and practice improves proffiency. Specifically, this fixture allows for a even flat stone with jigs that keep stones and parts in the same position, eliminating goofy angles or grinds. It does have plenty of adjustments available for variation of parts, and the triggers and sears fit tightly on the jig pins. The eight ways to Sunday that the fixture can be adjusted, again is it's own worst enemy, but after many jobs, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Summay: Great, but it has a steep learning curve, so patience is necessary at first.
