RIFLE DECORATIVE SLOT BLANK

RIFLE DECORATIVE SLOT BLANK Reviews & Ratings

Not just another slot-filler, but an attractive, all steel blank that hides the unsightly appearance of an empty sight dovetail on your favorite sporter rifle. Stylish, diamond shape with decorative, milled edges blends naturally into the barrel contour for a truly finished look. Polished and blued with enough room for custom engraving, if so desired. Fits standard, .375' x 60° dovetails without fitting. SPECS: Steel, polished blue finish. 1' (2.5cm) long x 9/16'
(1.4cm) wide. Fits .375' x 60° dovetail.

It adds more class to my 1895!

Glad I Got It
This definitely enhances the period look of my 1873 Uberti rifle. More expensive than other optional dovetail fillers, but after spending some bucks on the rifle, why scrimp over a few dollars difference. I did have to shim it, but not a big deal.

Best Looking Slot Blank Out There
I like the fact that it is slightly undersize. Just use a small center punch and a tap on the bottom side to expand the metal and it will be a perfect fit.

Looks Nice, Works Well
I've purchased seven of these slot blanks over the past four years. Those that I installed on three Winchesters and one Marlin fit perfectly. I had to file a little off the bottom edge of the dovetail to fit a Henry. I keep some spares on hand. Overall, the product is satisfactory and looks better than any other slot blanks I have. The only criticism is that the bevels on the edges have been not as nice as the picture in the catalog. The bluing on the ones I installed is a good match for that on the rifle barrels.

Good Looking Piece of Kit
Lovely filler but the dovetail was too large for direct use in my Winchester Model 52A when the Lyman Model 17 front sight was removed. Will require fitment.

Nice
Easily fit into the slot for a Husqvarna 1640. Bluing is fine, the only issue is it sits up farther than I would've like (from top of barrel to bottom of the insert. The spread could easily be halved without any fitment problems. Still better than a blank. Way better.

A Nice Touch
An attractive alternative to the usual filler blank. I purchased one for a Uberti 1866 and found it undersized by a few thou. A tap with a center punch and just a touch of thread sealant and it's in there nice and tight. I've purchased another for my 1873.

Undersized
Bought for use on a Marlin 1895G Guide Gun. Fit was so loose it could be slipped in with no friction with finger pressure. Used a sharp punch to raise dimples in 5 or 6 spots on the bottom and it gave enough friction to stay in place with Loctite. Shame it does not fit better, as it is a good looking rear sight replacement when adding Skinner sights.
