A Must for Every 597!!!
Bought and installed one of these a few years ago. Reduced trigger pull more than half. Well worth the money. Very easy to install. It took me about 45 minutes. Getting everything lined up was a little tricky with my fat fingers. Anybody can do it. No need for a gunsmith. There are plenty of YouTube videos to help.
YouTube Video helps
My 597 has a great barrel, but a lousy trigger. Getting the most out of your gun comes right down to the trigger. Why do you think benchrest shooters use 4 - 6 Oz. triggers. So I ordered this item with my fingers crossed. Got it promptly and installed it in 45 minutes. Use Youtube video (9min ) and it is very straight forward. End result Trigger pull 3 1/4 - 3 1/2 Lbs. Now to get to the range.
great product
This hammer combined with a Brownell's extractor made an otherwise misfiring and jamming gun shoot flawlessly. I was able to shoot four different types of ammo totaling about 400 rounds without any FTE or FTF. This gun out of the box did not function properly. Now it shoots great and is extremely accurate. A must upgrade for any Remington 597 owner!
Effective Solution
This was the perfect solution for the VERY heavy trigger on my daughter's 597. Easy to install; but be patient with the pin for the hammer. Now the pull is crisp and light, with no creep. Trigger pull was reduced by more than 50% This product was very cost effective compared to some of the other solutions out there. High Quality Product!
Need to have in your Remington 597
I'm very pleased about this product, really surpised about how it works overrided my spectatives, my Rem597 is in a new level of trigger and shooting control. Very fast shipping and a real proffesional package. My first but not my last buy with brownells. Thanks a lot.
Great Prodct!!
Slid this puppy right into my HB 597 after getting really good on-line videos do demonstrate (at Rimfirecentral.com) or elsewhere. It does exactly as claimed, makes trigger light and crisp.
BUY IT
Easy to install. Reduces triger pull. Smoother trigger. Buy it. You will love it.
Money well spent!!
If you buy one part for your 597, make it this! Very easy installation and a dramatic difference in trigger pull. I still just can't believe how smooth and nice it is. Just buy it!!
Worth the Effort
Just finished installing the hammer. Initial trigger pull approx. 4 1/2 lbs. according to spring gauge. After installation: 2 lbs. Minimal creep. Took about 15-20 minutes. Remove trigger housing from receiver by removing the one retaining pin at rear of trigger housing(if bolt is closed, may have to pull back slightly to get housing to pop free). Place housing in padded vice at a slight angle to avoid crushing mag release button. Housing is composite so easy does it. Tap out hammer pin with punch but just enough to release hammer-don't drive out all the way. Don't remove punch but leave in pin hole to keep spring and plastic bushing in place(there are two plastic bushings inside of spring on both sides of hammer). Remove old hammer and slide in new one, align pin holes and reinstall hammer pin. You may find that you cannot get the hammer to go to the cocked position. If this is so, you have to push the trigger fully forward and the hammer should stay in the cocked position now. Install housing back into receiver and replace the one retaining pin. Install upper assembly back into stock and your done. With gun empty, check to make sure rifle fires after bolt is cycled. Mine functioned flawlessly. If you completed the job without ending up with a bunch of extra parts, you should be very pleased with the results.
