Great for small spaces!
Needed something for quick access in an emergency. This was great for my hallway closet. Keeps unauthorized users from getting to your weapons! No fire protection inside and could use a few more mounting holes inside to secure it to a wall(light weight).
Well made gun cabinet
This item sits nicely half-way between super lightweight gun cabinets that go on eBay for $250 on the one hand, and a 450-600 lbs safe that will set you back a couple grand or more on the other. The Hornady vault is a robust, well made cabinet with 5 locking latches on one side of the door and a full piano hinge on the other. It came extremely well packaged and there was no damage whatsoever. The mechanism is a bit loud when it unlocks but it seems to work well. Time will tell, but so far I'm quite satisfied.

Loud and proud
Use case: After testing it out, I decided to mostly use it as a easy access safe for my hunting gear. I'll find something else that's a little more discrete... or go in and make some modifications, so that it isn't so loud.
Review:
I'd give the safe a solid 7/10. The primary deductions are for the quality of the locking mechanism at this price point and inability to disable the piezo speaker.
Positives:
- Rigid construction
- Ignoring that given enough time, people can break into anything... not as secure as an ATM, but still a decent deterent
- Overall it is sturdy, before installing I could stand on its sides without noticing any deflection
- I liked the annodized/hard coat; it doesn't feel like it would chip easily
- It was packaged pretty well, unless someone drops it out of the truck or runs into it w/ a forklift... it shouldn't arrive damaged
- RFID tags, WiFi, and phone app work
- *Note, the phone app just notifies you if the safe is closed or has been opened. You can't remotely unlock it.
- Compatible with common types of a RFID tags, so inexpensive to replace and find other options
Complaints:
- The safe is top heavy, which makes it "unwieldy" to mark holes with the door open on a carpeted floor. Not the biggest deal breaker, but still annoying... I just ended up ripping out the carpet and underlayer to put in anchor bolts (my basement came "pre-finished").
- The holes for the power cable are only in the back and bottom of the safe. It would have been nicer to have them on the sides... so I could easily hookup a dehumidifier and light bar later, without having to unbolt the safe.
- It is not audibly discrete:
- The safe uses a piezo speaker for the buttons and scans, which while reliable... is not discrete, adjustable in volume, or something you can disable.
- Same goes for the motor and lock's release mechanism.
- Doesn't come with any mounting hardware; at least toss in some drywall screws and lag bolts for the price tag.
- The floor mat was a little sad... I cut out and added the packaging foam (that it shipped with), underneath it
- Quality of internal locking mechanism... did I really just pay for that?

WiFi Issues? Here's a tip!!!
Despite other reviewers having issues with the WiFi and phone app, it worked perfectly fine for me. I have an Android, so I can't speak for the iPhone app. As to any WiFi issues, when are setting up the WiFi network in the app... make sure to select the SSID with the 2.4GHz connection. The chipset that they utilized is not compatible with the newer 5GHz networks. *It is a hardware limitation, so don't expect that to be updated with any new software releases.

Solid safe, no WiFi
Overall, great safe. However, do note, it is very narrow and the WiFi does not work as advertised.
The WiFi is a known issue that you’ll read from other reviews. It is disappointing the company has not updated nor fixed the issue.
Good, Limited
The "Pros" listed on the Hornady website attracted me to purchase this product.
Some of the cons include:
1. Pistol mounts will not accept pistols with WMLs. I purchased new options directly from Hornady and those do not work either.
2. Rifle mounts are designed for rifles without optics, so you will have to turn the rifle with optic sideways for it to fit.
3. The WiFi option no longer works for this product line. Note. Hornady engineers are working on a software patch, but have no timeline for resolution.
Small but good. Wi-Fi does not work...
The safe is a bit small but fine for me. They are advertising that it's Wi-Fi capable, but it does not work... they are blaming it on the app developer. Based on online reviews, it appears that this has been a standing problem. It doesn't look like they plan to fix it anytime soon based on the phone conversation with customer service. In my opinion this makes it false advertising.
