Why try something else when these work great.
Great Pillars for heavy target stocks
I have used these pillars not in 5 Richards Micro Fit target stocks. They require a stock with a fair amount of material around them since they require a hole size of .575". They need to be cut to length which a lathe is the best way. I match the radius of them to the action that will sit on them and cut length so that they are about .030" taller than the stock bed so the action is resting on them and they are recessed about a 1/4" on the under side of the stock so the screws are flush or recessed in in the stock. They are anchored using stock bedding epoxy. Once in place test fit and bed the action to the stock. Some photos attached. They make very solid stock to action attachment! Photos are of a stock in progress and bedding epoxy has not been cleaned up yet
Solid
Drill holes. Measure length cut them down.( I finish ground mine on a stone and polished them the same.) Devcon them in and let sit. Worked Great! 5 years afraid to try pillar bedding and I finally tried it out. So glad I did. Easy process. Very solid and looks great! Could not be happier with this Brownells product!
Good product, provided you know how
These are very well designed and do an excellent job. My only criticism is that the instructions (like many of Brownell's instructions) do not contain any illustrations on how to install them or what they should look like once they are installed. They do offer many books and videos on how to install pillars, but if you order these you had better know how to install them first because the directions supplied will not help much.
