ORIGIN SHORT ACTION RECEIVER

ORIGIN SHORT ACTION RECEIVER Reviews & Ratings

The Origin Action incorporates several popular features from both the Zermatt Arms TL3 and SR3 rifle actions, providing rifle shooters with a well-rounded option for their next bolt-gun build. The Origin Short Action Receiver is machined from pre-hardened 416 stainless steel and includes a pinned recoil lug, Savage Small-shank threaded tenon, interchangeable floating bolt heads, controlled-round feed, spiral-fluted bolt, and mechanical ejector.

Each Origin Short Action Receiver is cut to fit Remington 700 inletting so it will fit all of the aftermarket Remington 700 stocks, chassis, and triggers. The tactical bolt handle on the Origin features a swept profile. Each action is equipped with standard Remington-style feed lips that accommodate ADL/BDL floorplate internals, and AICS-pattern magazines with maximum cartridge overall length of 2.980 inches.

The receiver and bolt body are treated with a salt bath nitride finish while the bolt heads are DLC coated. These actions come topped with a removable 20 MOA picatinny scope rail. Accepts shouldered pre-fits as well as Savage Small Shank barrels.

The easy button for putting together a custom (semi custom to some) extremely accurate rifle together
I have many of these origin action from Zermatt. I also have their other actions with dedicated recoil lug, And their rimfire action. Add a criterion or Shilen barrel From James at Northland shooters, and you can shoot three shot groups in the zeros, ones, and twos In dozens of cartridges with the right equipment. I’ve got these barrels in Both shouldered And barrel nut configurations. These Origin actions Are the best value in the entire industry in my opinion. Performance vs investment 100%

Awesome Action
I normally don’t write reviews but this action is fantastic for the money! Bolt is super smooth. Receiver threaded perfectly onto a custom pre-fit barrel. Added a TriggerTech diamond trigger. It is a tack driver.

Zermatt Origin
This is a great entry level priced action that has huge pre fit barrel support and selection making it very easy to source barrels and install without a gunsmith. Interchangeable bolt head to allow for future cartridge swaps makes this very flexible for future changes. The mechanical ejector is awesome - run the bolt slowly to lightly eject brass to put back into ammo containers or run it hard and fling the empty cases into the next zip code.

EXCELLENT VALUE
I used one for a 223 build along with an IBI barrel, Whiskey 3 chassis, and a trigger tech primary trigger, Accurate AICS mag. It took about 20 rounds to break in the barrel and it shot around 1 MOA during break-in. After cleaning every 5 shots for the first 20 it will consistently shoot sub 1/2 MOA 5 shot groups with FGMM 69gr and better with handloads. I Love the action and plan on another build with one.

Amazing Value
Received my Bighorn Action about 2 weeks ago and put a Shilen Pre Fit barrel on it in less than 10 minutes. Took the new build to the range and it's a tack driver, sub .5 moa. This action is an incredible value for the money. Machining is top notch, controlled round feed, external extractor, pinned recoil lug and scope rail. Bolt is as smooth as butter and the extraction and feed are perfect. Put this in an Oryx chassis and couldn't be happier.

nice
I was in the market for a new rifle. Searching on the net I found out about these actions. The ability to change out bolt heads for new calibers in the future, install my own barrels. As long as I stay with short action cartridges I can just change a few parts and not keep buying new rifles. I've always been a fan of controlled round feed and fixed mechanical ejector. The pictures on this and other sights don't do this justice. The machining is top notch as is the finish. It's much more like a blued finish than the dull uneven black it appears in photos. I had ordered the trigger pins that came with screws for the sight rail, an extractor kit and a 12 point barrel nut from Big horn arms. Very fast and friendly service. I was surprised to find when I opened the new receiver box to find it came with trigger pins. I never saw that mentioned on any Web sights. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more of these if I was in the market for more. Well they do make this in long action as well now. If you're a fan of shouldered barrels instead of the Savage style barrel nuts, there are barrel makers out there that sell them for this action.
