NICKEL-PLATED REM 700 TRIGGERGUARD SCREWS

NICKEL-PLATED REM 700 TRIGGERGUARD SCREWS Reviews & Ratings

NICKEL-PLATED REMINGTON 700 TRIGGERGUARD SCREWS

Nickel plated screws blend visually with Remington 700 stainless steel actions. Approximately .250" longer than the factory screws for greater flexibility when bedding in synthetic or wood stocks with thick, cross-sectional depth. Allen head sockets allow repeatable torque settings on match or target rifles.

What Reviewers Are Saying
Length and Customization
67%
Many reviewers appreciate that the screws are intentionally longer, allowing for customization to fit various rifles. Users commonly mention that trimming them to the desired length is a straightforward process, often using tools like a Dremel for this purpose.
Hex Head Design
60%
A significant number of reviews express concerns about the hex head design, noting that the recess is poorly formed, which can lead to stripping during use. This has caused frustration for users when trying to achieve a secure fit, suggesting a need for improvement in this aspect.
Thread Quality
30%
Some reviewers faced issues with thread quality, citing binding due to thick plating that necessitated chasing with a die. This concern highlights inconsistencies in manufacturing, impacting ease of use and overall satisfaction with the product.
User Experience Variability
45%
The reviews reflect a mixed user experience, with some finding the screws adaptable for custom projects while others deem them unsuitable for standard applications due to length or design flaws. This variability underscores the importance of understanding product specifications before purchase.
Project Suitability
40%
Reviewers emphasize that these screws are not ideal as replacements for standard action screws, warning that they can impede bolt manipulation if the stock is too shallow. This theme points to the necessity of assessing project requirements prior to selection.

Great quality, fast shipment.

Perfect!
This was exactly what I was looking for. I needed longer screws for a new Bell and Carlson stock. These come longer than needed and need to be cut to length. Very easy to do. I bought a 1/4" -28 nut (18 cents) threaded it on and cut to length with a dremel tool. Then backed off the nut to clean up the threads.

Good To Go
Have used the Brownells Triggerguard Screw Kit on many builds, never had a problem, good price. As seen in the title description, the word LONG is present and the screws will need to be cut and fit to your rifle.

They work
If they are to long here's a hint. Grind them down.

It works?
I saw a handful of negative reviews, so I figured it was worth noting a couple of things: 1. These screws are designed to be too long. As a matter of fact, they're probably WAY too long for your intended job. That's kind of the point. You are supposed to cut them to length in order order to get a perfect fit once they're torqued to spec. 2. Be careful and make sure that you've seated the bit entirely when you're tightening to about 55 inch pounds or so. You can strip out the hex head. Honestly, I think they would have worked better as star heads, but no one asked me.

Nice Long Screw Set
This is a nice set of screws if you are building a rifle with a large custom stock. They will need to carefully cut to the required length without damaging the treads. Which can be done rather easily with a dremel cutting wheel and fitting nut to chase back over the end thread. the only thing I don't like about these srews is that the hex recess is not very god. You have to be careful or you will strip it out. I was able to torques to 50 inch pounds but need to make sure the bit was seated as far as it would go and keep it there. I messed up my first pair fitting the stock but the second set went pretty well. I would purchase again, if needed.

Nive Screw Set
Got these screws for a custom project with an unfinished long range stock. They work pretty well after cutting down to my required size (which I knew I'd have to do). The only minus is that the hex key opening could be better defined. Had a bit of an issue to get the bit into the front trigger guard screw but it was alright after the first time. This was my 2nd set, as the first I buggered up in getting my filan fitting correct. Turned out great.
2
Way too long
Do not buy these as a replacement for standard action screws. they will impede bolt manipulation. worthless if your stock is too shallow.

Wrong Size
The bolts were far too long by about a half inch. not usable without cutting the bolt.

Cheap screws
These screws suck. The heads are poorly formed leaving you with less than .060" of tool purchase in the head and I had to chase the threads with a die, as the plating was thick enough to bind the screws in the action. Do not buy.
