S&W Shield Magazines

All of the Shield Plus magazines are tight. My 10 rounder is tight but I was able to get the 10 in. I was finally able to get 13 in the 13 round mag. Gonna leave it sit for a few weeks to loosen up. Haven’t received my 15 rounder yet. They’re supposed to loosen up after a while. Most all of them are doing this according to many articles on the net. I’m not gonna sweat it. I’ll go with 9+1, 12+1, 14+1 if necessary until everything loosens up. S&W customer service is really good, at least it has been for me. They will work with you. Mag swap or spring/follower kit. They will probably all be tight and need to loosen up. They work in my performance Center Shield Plus all day long. For me that’s what counts the most.

13 rd Mag not holding 13 rds

The reason the magazine won't allow the 12th or 13th round. Is due to the rear underside lip of the follower being too blunt. I guy posted his finding. Fix is really simple. Just remove the follower and reshape the rear part of the follower to be more tapered than blunt. This will allow the coils to slip up into the follower as intended. I reshaped all of mine. They all hold 13 rds with out using a loader, now. The rear lip is very blunt, just tapper the inside edge only. Not a lot is needed. Regards

13 rounder’s easier to load than the 10 round

I could not get the 10th round into the 10 round mag but I could get the 13 round mag filled all the way by hand. Got a magula Uplula. Now the ten round mag is full. I have noticed sliding the ten round mag in while there’s one in the chamber is more difficult than with the 13 round.

Quality magazine

Ran a few mag fulls of hollow points and FMJs. All functions fine. Difficult to get the 12th and 13th rounds in at first. Definitely recommend using a magazine loader to assist with loading. I'd load it up to max capacity and leave it loaded to soften the spring a bit. Otherwise a quality product.
