Awesome stuff!
I bought this for a gunsmithing project, but decided to try it out on two of my firearms since I wasn't quite there with the project yet. After applying it to my Springfield 67 and Kimber Raptor, they both look fantastic! Yes, there is a bit of a shoe polish smell to it, but you're not exactly expecting something like this to smell like roses haha. This stuff lives up to its reputation. Not only does the wood furniture on the two look amazing, but they aren't slippery. In fact, they have OUTSTANDING grip. And no fingerprints left either. Pretty awesome. Excited to see where else I can use this stuff.
Clean and protect
Use to clean optics and leave a slight protective film. I also use it on the outside of firearms for dusty conditions where oil would attract and on the slide of pistols gives a better grip when manipulating the slide back.
Great coating for firearms
This product has become part of my yearly maintenance of my firearms collection. I even use it on my tools including saw blades, plane bodies, plane cutters, wooden handles and brass and steel screws and nuts. I apply a light coat, allow it to dry and buff it out with a cotton cloth. It keeps everything I use it on looking great. It's easy to use and I have and would recommend it to friends.
Looks great
This was looks great. It applies easy and wipes off to a great shine but not "shiney".
Another use for Renaissance
I first tried this on a shotgun stock after removing one of those adhesive comb pads. The finish looked pretty bad, other wax I tried did very little to help and in fact when I ordered Renaissance I also ordered stock finish thinking it would likely be required. Pleasantly surprised that this wax brought back the appearance of the stock and it did not require refinishing. All the guns in the safe got the Renaissance treatment after that experience and I now use it exclusively to maintain my guns. I load a lot of shells for sporting clays, when the primer feeder of my Mec 9000 shotshell loader starting acting up I checked the owners manual and found the suggestion to try wiping the tray with a silicone cloth, that worked but only for a short time before the same symptoms occured. I then waxed the feed tray with this product and it now functions better than it did when new. This is the good stuff, buy with confidence.
Best Product of its Kind
I originally purchased it for use on wooden gun stocks. It worked better on them than any other type of oil/wax/polish I've ever used. A thin film provides sufficient coverage and it dries almost immediately. It is the most versatile product of its type that I know of. I've applied it to furniture, woodwork, leather shoes, etc. and the results have been spectacular. It's also very cost effective. After using it to cover an entire grand piano, two large china cabinets, a lot of wood trim, etc., I still have over half a can left. It was developed by the British Museum back in the 1950s and it's now the gold standard in museums around the world. It is a truly great product.
All You Will Need For Exterior Of Guns
I have been using Renaissance Wax for over 30 years. I bought a tin like the one advertized and still have about 40% left. You use very little each time. The best thing about it is you don't have to worry what you are applying it to (wood, metal, ivory, leather, rubber pads, etc.) as it will not discolor or cause any issues. Oh yeah, it really does work to prevent rust!
Best ever release agent!
This stuff is great! Not only does it do a fine job of protecting blued metal and finished stocks, but it's the best release agent I've used in 20+ years of professional gunsmithing. It's easy to apply and remove and parts treated with it release instantly. It's also economical. A small can lasts for years, even when bedding a lot of rifles. It's clean and easy to use. What's not to like?
Love this stuff!
This product isn't only for wood. I've used it on a gun I built, after I polished it to a matchless finish and blued it. I brought out the shine that the matchless is suppose to be. Mirror finish!
Excellent Product!
This product is a must for anyone who finishes gun stocks. It is a very mild polish which does not dig into your fine finish, but it helps take out some minor imperfections which may be left from your hand rubs. Not for removing large streaks, but great for taking out those last few fine streaks or obnoxious fingerprins in your finish.
