A marvelous tool, but....

If you are new to the M1 bolt disaasembly go to the Brownells Channel on Youtube and watch the 2 minute video. That button on the bottom has to be lifted off the work bench before you compress the bolt, and then put it on bench to push out the extractor.

Good tool

I bought one of these back around 2010 or so from Brownells. It makes stripping and M1 Garand bolt much easier. I've used it several times to disassemble and reassemble my CMP M1 Garand. Never used it on an M1A bolt. You can strip an M1 bolt and put it back together the old fashioned way with the combo tool, but this tool makes it faster and easier.

Just what's needed

This tool is a bit pricey, but it makes the job a of disassembling the bolt of my M1A's a breeze. There are some "bubba" methods out there to do the job, but if you want to complete the task without risking parts flying all over the place then this is the tool to choose. Remember the phrase "right tool for the job", the choice is your's.
