Didn't work for me
I bought this back in November of 2025. I just got around to building my rifle and the BCG is defective and doesn't function in my rifle. It will not go into battery. I tried with multiple rifles with not luck. First time ever have a problem with a brownells product. I'm sure it's a fluke
No quality control!!!
So turns out Brownells is no longer what it used to be. Now days, if it carries the Brownells name, it’s fair to assume it’s junk! The gas key hole on this BCG is undersized!!! Gas tube won’t fit LOL
Brownells goes with the cheapest manufacturer possible. All about the money. Shame on you Brownells!!!
Not very gas efficient - do NOT use for 300 blackout
The BCG I received had problems with gas leakage, and could not reliably cycle 300 blackout subsonics suppressed. Using a different bolt carrier I already had solved my undergassing issues with 300 blackout subsonics. If you are running 5.56 it should be fine. But do NOT get one for a 300 blackout AR.
Waste of $$$
Terrible fit and finish. Shame on me for looking for a bargain. Now i'll buy legacy bcg's and pay the price.
No Go
Raised edges and burrs on bolt lugs that damaged barrel extension walls and barrel face. Poor machining of bolt body showing uneven exaggerated wear inside the carrier. Inspect and gauge before use. Lesson learned.
Bolt cracked
I bought this in December 2018 and put a mix of 223, M193 and M855 through it in an M4 format carbine. Total round count of 6000-8000 rounds. Was cleaning it this past weekend and there is a crack completely through one side of the hole in the bolt that accommodates the cam pin. GI parts last much longer and the chrome finish did not really ease cleaning all that much if at all.
Absolute Junk
Really??? This is junk, had I used it in my rifle it could have caused damage or injury. It arrived with only 2 gas rings, there should be 3. It is obvious that there is absolutely no quality control on this junk. I expect better out of something that carries Brownells name. Now I know to treat any product from Brownells as suspect until proven otherwise. I think I will shop elsewhere from now on.
Carrier Bolt Jams
Carrier bolt jams in the extended position after a few rounds. I had to disassemble the the weapon to get it loose. I tried it several times and same results and this was after it was cleaned and lubricated well. I looks good but does not function as it should so Dont waste your time and money as this is junk.
Poor quality machining and finish.
This chrome BCG is the worst I've seen in terms of craftsmanship and finish. On initial inspection, I noticed deep gouges left by the milling tool along both sides of the carrier. (These marks would be visible thru the ejection port if installed in the upper receiver.) Next, I noticed rust and pitting in 3 forward assist slots, inside of the recess of the firing pin retaining pin, and inside the hole where the firing pin goes in. These rust marks were not on the surface of the chrome plating, they were on the base metal where the chrome plating were not. I can only assume that the surface of metal was improperly prepped before the chrome plating. Not sure how this item passed QC. Needless to say, I returned the BCG for a full refund.
To many machine marks
I bought 2 M16 Bolt Chrome made by Brownells, both were not in good condition, one cam pin was black this was supposed to be Chrome just like the picture on the website, the second Bolt had machine marks that would cut into my upper receiver or destroy my it, please take a close look at the burrs. I do not recommend this Bolt.
