M16 5.56 BOLT CARRIER GROUP

M16 5.56 BOLT CARRIER GROUP Reviews & Ratings

Matched bolt/carrier set is machined to mil-spec dimensions using the latest manufacturing and quality-control techniques to deliver superb reliability in both semi-auto and select-fire rifles. Carrier is hard-chromed inside and has an M16-type full-length shroud on the underside to trip the auto sear on full-auto/burst rifles. Bolt is magnetic particle inspected to ensure there are no internal flaws to compromise structural integrity and cause premature failure. Fully staked carrier key and tool steel extractor further aid reliable cycling. Laser-engraved Spike’s Tactical logo on the side of the carrier is visible when the ejection port door is open. .223/5.56 fits standard AR-15/M16/M4 rifles and is available with standard MIL-STD-171 5.3.1.2 phosphate finish.

SPECS: Bolt – Carpenter 158 steel alloy. Carrier – 8620 carbon steel, chrome lined. Available with mil-spec phosphate finish, matte black.

Perfect Complete BCG!
A great and inexpensive complete bolt carrier group! Spikes knocks it out of the park with this. The bolt has the strongest extractor I have ever seen and even has an extra poly 'doughnut' aside from the normal spring and poly post on the extractor. As I've used several of these, I have never had a bad lock-up with a chamber or found one to be out of spec. Do note that you need to clean it extremely well before install as it is covered in sticky thick yellow grease - it IS standard I know - but this stuff just seemed extra thick.

Good BCG for the Price
Spikes makes a decent BCG and its a good deal, likes others said it comes to you filthy from test firing but I don't mind cleaning a part off that the company took the time to make sure it worked properly. It isn't up there with Daniel Defense, LMT, or BCM in quality but its price and robustness sells it.

Excellent....
I have built a few AR'S now and shot the snot out of most of them, and i treat them like dirt and don't baby them at all! Anyway i have gone through a few B.C.G.'s and this one is by far the best!"so far"... fit and finish are excellent, HP/MP tested at the factory. for the price, WHY WOULD YOU GET ANY THING ELSES!!!???? comes from the factory a bit dirty from them testing it, but that is how it should be! i think they must test all of them before they leave the floor! test them one at a time!? thats what SHOULD always be done! sorry Colt, not going to be wasting my money on you any more! by the way, i dont leave 5 stars on anything any more, if man made it, it will break some day!

Sketchy
I purchased one of these from Brownells. It does not have the "made in the USA" stamp on the side like all my other Spikes Tactical bolts. I e-mailed Spikes and they said due to the high demand 2 different machine companies mill the bolts. My opinion is, due to the high demand the quality appears to be lacking in this particular bolt. The ones I have that are stamped "made in the USA" appear better quality. Also, the finish is mediocre on this particular bolt. I think they are making these as fast as possible and are forgetting why they are one of the best by lacking in attention to detail. Just my thoughts. FYI- if you can find a Spikes Nickel Boron bolt they are awesome.

Generic Brownell's Brand
Mine had no Spikes logo and terrible finish, so I assume it is just a brownells brand they tried to pass off as a Spikes. RETURNING.

Did not fit my AR-15
I got this bolt/bolt carrier set up to replace a well worn one in my DPM 5.56 NATO AR-15 upper but this carrier/bolt set up from Spikes would not fit. It slide in ok but would not allow the bolt to swivel to allow the bolt to lock or hook up. I even took it to a professional gunsmith and he could not get t=it to work. We measured the hieght on the teeth of the bolt and they were .005 taller than the original and had a straight cut on the teeth rather than a bevel like the original. Maybe they forgot a machine pass?
