A Must Have for M1A
Somebody was thinking when they came up with this. A fairly easy way to clean the chamber without complete disassembling. Steve also is on a video on Brownell’s showing how to use it.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Good to have a cleaning brush for the chamber of the M1a.
It's good knowing that the chamber on the M1a is clean after going out to the range.

A must have item for your range bag
This is a must have cleaning tool for your range bag. Great for removing carbon buildup in your M1/M1A chambers.

Previous reviews are both right
This brush has two portions that are fitted together: 1. The brush; and 2. The ratchet. The brush portion is identical in size to the chamber brush I received from Springfield for my M1A. The plastic ratchet portion is longer than the Springfield model. Thus, the brush should function just fine, but it will not fit in the butt stock storage compartment. Hope this helps.

Works fine
This chamber brush was made for the M1 Garand which is 30-06 Springfield. The brush also works just fine for the 7.62 NATO/308 Win chambers. I have many of these and like them better than the M14 specific brush because does not require the threaded cleaning rod(it's not threaded)so all you need is a rod made of wood, metal, plastic or whatever works. This makes it much more versatile. BTW, the M60 GPMG is chambered in 7.62 NATO and not 30-06 Springfield, so how could this brush be made for the M60?

Best quality M14 chamber brush ive had.
I would have given 5 stars but the brush does not fit in the buttstock along with the rest of the cleaning kit it is about a 1/2" too long as I bought this brush to replace the Junk brush that came with the buttstock cleaning kit. On quality Alone I give this brush 5 stars but overall it gets 4 stars.

Good on paper.
I bought this for my newly received Nov' 44 Springfield M1 Garand, Field Grade. It went in and cleaned the chamber, but that's when the problems started. The brush screwed itself tight into the chamber and refused to come out. I would up having to get my father to help me as I didn't have enough hands. I had to hold the follower down so the brush could clear it while also holding the op rod at bay while my father twisted the brush and hammered it out (nylon hammer). Thankfully the gun didn't receive any damage. Good idea on paper, but beyond that it's not worth having. The cleaning tool that would have been issued with the rifle is far superior in every way. I would love to see Brownells make a reproduction of those.

Not for use on M1A/M14!
I purchased this brush to use on my M1A, but it is not the right brush. It is actually a chamber brush for the M60 machine gun, and it is too long for the M1A. I'm sure this is also why it wouldn't fit into the buttstock compartment for the previous reviewer. The USGI M14 chamber brush does not have a non-threaded "through" hole, like this brush -- it has a threaded hole that does not go all the way through the plastic ratchet.
