M1 Buddy M1/M1A Cleaning Port Device
Along with a muzzle bore guide, adding the M1 Buddy makes bore cleaning of your M1/M1A easy and effective.
M1Buddy holds bolt open and patches pushed down the bore are deposited into the bottom of the device. Works as expected. Cool!

M1 Cleaning
Heard about this and found out they were out of stock. Took a couple months to get one. Keeps thing neater when cleaning to bore and chamber on my M1 Garand. Keeps in-needed dirt and clear out of the receiver when cleaning barrel.

M1 Buddy
Very nice product but Springfield Armory suggests placing your M1A with the sights facing down when you run cleaning products through the barrel to keep them out of the gas port. This makes the M1 Buddy less relevant.
Time Saver = M1 Buddy
M1 Buddy works great, fits perfectly and allows me to clean the barrel of my M1A and M1 Garand without totally breaking down the firearms. Simply drop the M1 buddy in the breech and run patches through the barrel . M1 buddy catches any debris and stops it from falling into the inside of the gun. I first saw it on Smyth Busters and I'm glad I did!!
M1a buddy
Gave it a 4 star that it works, keeps from getting M1 thumb. But if you have a scope mounted then it won't fit. If you don't have a scope then it works just fine.
M 1 Buddy Thumbs up
No cons on this. I need a quick wipe down the barrel so I bought this Buddy and it works keep it in your box....
This thing is GREAT!
I have used it in my Garands and my M1A. The bolt holds it in place.
Does What It's Supposed To Do!
I used this in both my M1-A's and M1 Garand and in both types of weapons it worked just fine. With the Garand you have to push down on the device while pushing forward on the op rod. With the M1A you just lock the bolt back, set the device in the receiver opening, and gently let the bolt go forward.
Brilliant idea
keeps solvent out of trigger group
The M1 Buddy a hit and miss...
I bought the M1 Buddy Combo to help ease cleaning of my Springfield Armory M1A Scout Squad. The M1 Muzzle Buddy WILL NOT fit the Scout Squad's muzzle brake as it is too big. (For my Scout Squad users I instead use the Dewey's Brass C-.30 Cleaning Rod Guide to fit the muzzle brake and protect the barrel - Parts#234018030). The M1 Buddy however does fit and work as intended. You simply insert the yellow plastic Buddy into the ejection port/breach and slowly let the bolt ride forward to hold it in place. You can then use a cleaning rod (or bore snake) to clean out the barrel and let any dirty patches fall off the jag (without that annoying problem of accidentally hitting the bolt with the end of your jag and releasing the bolt jamming or damaging your cleaning rod). And yes...the bolt will hold the M1 Buddy in place so if you are OCD (like me) you can clean the M1A upside-down and not get any cleaning solvents or gunk into the gas port/gas cylinder. So 3 stars for a simple but functional product and cleaning aid.
