great simple cleaning rod
great rod versitle and brass. love it. what more can you say I
great product
Forget all the other cleaning rods for cleaning pistols and revolvers. These rods are strong, all brass, and just the right size. I have several set up for each caliber. I use a longer set of rods for the barrels, shorter for the chambers. Each set has two rods, one for a bronze, and one for a bristle brush.
Dewey short rod
Handy for a take along kit. Perfect for the guns I shoot most -4 revolvers. As for quality, Dewey is as good as it gets, and is not available locally. Thanks, Brownells!
None finer . . . . the very best
Jorge Dewey produces the fines cleaning rods in the industry! I have used this products for over 20+ years and have made up many cleaning kits for my students over my 70 years as a professional firearm instructor . . . . civilian, military, law enforcement and 34 years at the college level.
Perfect size for small jobs
These short rods are great for short barrels and revolver cylinders, as everybody else is also saying. There is more control over the rod and less chance of bending when you use the right size. Not a necessity, but a good tool for the toolbox. I also prefer the Dewey rods so the brush or jag doesn't spin on its own. It's much easier to clean female threads when you can spin the brush instead of going across them.
Ideal for 4" and less barrels
These are the only rods I own for my handguns with 4 inch barrels or less. No one else seems to manufacture rods shorter than 6 inch, and most are 8 inch. This 4 inch rod is less awkward to use on short barrel handguns, especially snub revolvers. Much better for cleaning revolver cylinders. Takes up less space in range bags, too. Threading and finish are high quality, and being brass, they can't harm a bore or crown when used properly. Best if you leave your brush, jag or loop one turn loose, so it can follow the rifling freely.
Quality
. It is just a cleaning rod, but very happy with overall detail & quality.
9-inch length does NOT include the loop
Excellent rod and even includes the loop-style patch holder. This 9-inch rod will clean 9-inch barrels. The length including the loop handle is 11-1/8". This rod is inexpensive, but not CHEAP. As stated in other reviews, it is stiff so you don't get any buckling as you shove it down the barrel. It's brass, so it won't scratch the lands. The handle obviously doesn't rotate so you can use it to turn a chamber brush (clockwise only) in order to clean out a chamber. One trick I've learned is to leave the brush, jag, or other end a bit loose when I screw it on. I don't thread it tightly onto the rod. This allows the brush, etc., to turn with the rifling as the tool goes through the barrel. Highly recommended as an inexpensive, very useful tool. -- Loren
Good value
This is a good quality little rod. It is just right for a 4 inch barreled revolver or a small 380 handgun. It is well made, with finely machined threads and tip. Not quite long enough for a 5" 45. Very nice piece however.
