J-B® BORE COMPOUND & KROIL

J-B® BORE COMPOUND & KROIL Reviews & Ratings

Save money on the do-it-all combination that's been written up in several of the 'accuracy' publications: J-B and Kroil! Run a couple of patches soaked in Kroil through the bore to get under and loosen barrel fouling, then wipe away most of the crud with a dry patch. Follow with J-B Compound to dig deep and remove the most stubborn moly residue, powder, and copper jacket fouling. A final pass with Kroil coats the bore with a rust preventive film.

SPECS:
  • J-B: 2 oz. (57 g) net contents jar.
  • Kroil: 8 fl.oz (237 ml) can.

It really works well !
I've used JB bore paste and Kroil as directed on two ALREADY cleaned 308 rifles which I thought I thoroughly cleaned before. After letting the Kroil set overnight and running a couple of patches of JB paste through I was still finding some carbon and copper on the patches. I don't know if it was this product or just a good day at the range but the Savage Mod.10 shot some impressive groups at 300 & 400 yards. I'll definitely keep using this product.

Best combo for bare metal cleaning
The combination of Kroil & JB to remove copper fouling in my rifles is one of the best combinations available. After running a borescope down my rifle I would say 99% of the carbon and copper fouling are gone. Great combination for getting your barrel back to baseline/factory clean.

Great for Carbon Ring
I ordered this to remove a carbon ring that snuck up on me in the throat of my bolt gun. Took a little effort but it did what regular solvents and cleaners couldnt do. I will continue to use it periodically to make sure the carbon ring doesnt come back.

Great Product
Works great and if you follow up with their Bore Bright you will end up wit a very clean and bright barrel.

It works
I have used Kroil with J-B compound for many years with no ill effect on my barrel's. I know some think it will damage/shorten the life of the barrel by using these to clean out the barrel of their rifle's but it won't with proper equipment and technique. I don't use it after every hunting trip or range day but if you're having trouble getting your rifles bore clean, use some Kroil and J-B compound it will clean that bore out in no time!

Awesome combination
I purchased a new deer rifle BAR DBM 308. Had it sighted in perfectly the first weekend I shot it. Ran a bore snake thru it a couple times. Thought it was clean. Second weekend I shot it. I could not get a tight grouping. I continued putting about 15 rounds thru it and was confused why I couldnt get the same results the first time I shot it. I did some YouTube research and learned about copper fouling affecting accuracy. Sure enough I could see clear as day with a flash light the bore was extremely copper fouled. I tried Hoppes bench rest could not get bore clear of copper. Even left soak over night. Back to YouTube. Found this combination. After following the instructions and repeating a few times my bore was visibly clear of the copper. Also Checking with the Hoppes bench rest. No blue coloring on the patches indicating copper. Im sold on the Kroil/JB combination.

GREAT solution for filthy/neglected guns
A couple of years ago, I bought a Mosin Nagant on sale at one of the big national outfitters. As you can imagine for a WW2-era Russian weapon that used corrosive ammo, the condition of the bore leaves something to be desired. On and off for the last year or so, I have been trying different techniques to clean the bore, different chemicals, etc..., and never could get completely clean patches out of it (even with relatively aggressive solvents like Butch's Bore Shine). Today, I came across a local gun shop that had one of these Kroil/JB kits for sale, so I decided to give it a shot. HOLY COW does this combo work... I pulled all manners of egregiously nasty stuff out of the bore, and by the time it was all said and done, I was getting immaculate patches out of it. I even followed up the Kroil/JB regimen with another dose of Butch's, thinking that I would use that as a way to "double check" the Kroil/JB job; even then, I kept getting pristine patches out of it. Of course, the bore paste didn't undo 70 years of corrosive ammo use and neglect, but it certainly got the bore in better condition than I have ever seen it. To make a short story long, I'm a believer; if you have something that just refuses to come clean, try Kroil/JB.

Amazing!!!
Used in the barrel of my 300rum that I thought wasn't performing to its potential after about 300 rounds through it and not being able get all carbon fouling out. Easily removed all fouling and my groups shrunk dramatically!!! No doubt this product restored the barrel!
