Worked with Howa Mini Action Heavy Barrel

One solid stock
Right out of the box was impressed with how solid the stock feels. Very little flex and pillar bedded! Fit was near perfect, I did have to open barrel channel I small bit on left side to insure freefloat.

Howa stock
Perfect fit. Action bolted in nicely. I did shorten length of pull for grandson. Pad will just have to be longer for now. Fast service, thank you Brownells.

bought on sale for a cheap replacement stock. going to try to shorten and lighten. seems almost identical to the factory stock on 6.5 heavy
Great value
The barreled action dropped right in and fit perfect.. The barrel is free floated in the stock and the rifle shoots nice tight groups. You can't beat the price as other options are 2-4 times the cost.

Great stock for the Money.
This is a great stock for the money! Has good ergonomics and fairly rigid. I put together a Howa Mini in 300 Blk. Shot okay (1-2” groups) with an MDT Oryx Chassi. I’m sure I could have swapped loads and found something it liked better, but the Chassi was heavier and bulkier than I wanted. Before buying another more expensive stock I figured I’d try this one. It fit great at the action but the forend did have contact on the left side of the barrel. I sanded it down and bedded the action/chamber of the barrel with Acraglass. First time I’ve bedded a rifle. Was very simple and turned out the way I wanted. I painted it with a simple sponge camo pattern, I shot three, 3 shot groups at the same point of aim. All 9 shots were in the same 3/4-1” group. I’m very impressed, and probably going to put together another in 22 Arc with the same stock.

Better than most
Considering the price, was pleasantly surprised when I received this stock. Very stiff, no flex or problems with using a bipod. Better than most factory plastic stocks. Heavy barrel stock weighs 2 pounds, only half pound heavier than a carbon stock. Approx a pound lighter than a B&C. Bought an aftermarket BDL trigger guard & magazine, fit perfect. Heavy barrel action, factory stock and aftermarket bottom metal weigh 6.5 pounds total.

Feels solid
Purchased this to go with the mini action 16 inch 300 AAC on sale. Fits very well, though it looks funny with the short barrel. If this rifle impresses me, I will put it in a more suitable stock. But I think it is a much nicer stock than many of the polymer stocks manufacturers place on their base line rifles.
Good & Disappointing
I purchased the Howa Mini 1500 stock for a HEAVY barrel contour of a Howa mini 1500 300 Blk Out 16" barreled action. The price was the best around that would fit the action. Upon receipt, I inspected the stock, looked better than expected, solid, no warp, butt pad, very acceptable, finish- good, overall appearance excellent.
Then I tried to fit the action into the stock, the receiver fit nicely, the barrel would not even go down in the stock. As much as 8 mm too narrow to fit the heavy barrel contour. I checked to make sure I ordered the HEAVY barrel contour, yes I did, I checked the #s on the box the stock came in and they matched the numbers online @ brownells for a Heavy barrel......frustration.....called customer service, nice person, my options were 1. refund, 2. replace, Online showed the same stock 'out of stock'........ugh......last option was to take it to a gunsmith in ABILENE to have it routed out.........TOO FAR.......Took it to my friend & gunsmith Mark Pharr, a superb gunsmith and stock maker.........he verified my next step, a round dowel just larger than the stock trough contour the and sandpaper. After an hour of sand / fit / repeat, the barrel laid down, further fine tuning and finishing of the contour and the end of the stock trough and I have a VERY NICE finished stock & action. Checked the lug fit and decided on a small amount of bedding just behind the lug & behind the front pillar, after hardening and a little polish.............perfect, recommend Brownell add a disclaimer to their stock ads.............SOME ADJUSTMENTS MAY BE NECESSARY.........batteries not included......C.
