H4831SC is an Extreme extruded powder and the exact ballistic copy of H4831. Physically, it has a shorter grain size which earned it the “SC” designation for “short cut.” The shorter, more compact kernels allow the powder to flow through the powder measures more smoothly, helping to alleviate the constant cutting of granules. With the smoother flow characteristics comes more uniform charge weights, while the individual grains orient more compactly, creating better loading density.

As an Extreme Extruded propellant, it shares the fine quality of insensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, as well as superb uniformity from lot to lot.

It is a favorite for cartridges like the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, 280 Remington and 300 Winchester Magnum.

I use this for 7prc. It has a bit lower velocity than some other hotter powders. 65.5 gn gave me 2957 ave. velocity w/ no pressure signs. Outstanding groups though.

Fantastic powder in 130 class bullets in 6.5 Creedmoor

Like many powders, I was experimenting with load development to find the right combination of bullet and powder my barrel prefers (26" Proof stainless with competition profile). When I tried the Berger AR Hybrid OTM with H4831SC the combination produced one of the best 5 shot groups I've ever produced with this setup (mean radius of .13"). There's more to be done before I can have confidence in the load, but it's shooting with single digit SD's so far and my barrel just loves the combination. At nearly 2900 fps with the 130 it makes for a really pleasant load to shoot.

Better late than never!

I was happy to find Brownells had this powder in stock but was very disappointed that the carrier (FedEx) temporarily lost this package and couldn’t locate it from the claim I filed. It was delivered 3 days later. I would recommend the powder but recommend a different carrier!
