Excellent hand priming tool
I have been using this tool for about 5 years. I shoot F-Class and go through several thousand rounds a year. Some have small rifle primers others have large primers. They all go through the Hornady priming tool. If it broke today I would buy another this evening.
Great tool
Great tool, provides consistent seating depth every, I now own 2 so I can leave one setup for large rifle and one for small rifle primers.
Hornady hand priming tool
Very durable, I own 2 of them and leave one set up for small primers, one for large. I bought these after breaking 2 from another manufacturer quite a while ago.
WAY TO GO
BEST PRIMING TOOL I HAVE EVER USED WARRANTIE IS NOT AS GOOD AS RCBS
Hand Operation Primer Seater
This is the third time that I have bought this Hornady tool. I reload a lot and keep looking for an efficient, portable way to seat primers. This is portable but not efficient and prone to spillage. I'm still looking for a better tool.
works well, but not ergonomic
I can prime my ammo consistently with this tool, but it has short comings: - poor ergonomics - tray not easy to remove - tray seems fragile - not easy to change shell holder Pluses: - simple construction - durable ... execpt for tray - works well
Kind of Disapointed in Hornady
I finally wore out my RCBS hand priming tool, which you cant buy anymore. I have always been found of Hornady products and liked the reviews for this tool. On my first use, this tool is; 1) Clumsy to put together, 2) The plastic seems to be brittle, 3) Parts are lose and easy to misplace or loose, 4) Only one spring for the priming rods. I started with priming some prepared brass, and primed about 5 before the thing jammed. Somehow it got a primmer sideways and one partially inserted into the shell primmer pocket. And, of course, everything is stuck. Could not even dissemble the tool to get it out. While trying to use picks to dislodge the primmer and free up the shell holder, the primmer fired in my face (Used Safety Glasses). The plastic now has burn marks on it from the primer. Not impressed at all. Hornady should be able to build a better product. Go slow, watch every primer fall into place before placing the shell in the holder.
Needs Product
Not the normal quality product from Hornady. Absolutely everything about this hand primer I purchased in 2023 is just a bit off(loose tolerances) making it both difficult and frustrating to use. My unit over seats the primers if the lever is depressed fully, primers do not flow easily into the gate which requires a shake or two to get the primer into position, which in turn results in one or two primers in the holding tray to flip over because the lid doesn’t fit closely enough. I’m very surprised to see Hornady turn out such a low quality product, when all it needs is closer tolerances and it would work like a champ. until then, don’t waste your coin on this cheaply made unit…just sad to see Hornady joining the rest of corporate America.
Don't Spend Your Money
This primer system came with my new Lock-n-Load Classic kit. After using several brands over the years I did not like the Hornady system at all. It is difficult to use. I tried to set it with my first use with Large Pistol Mag Primers. Getting the tray to fit was a choir as was getting the lid on correctly. Because is it is clear it is difficult to eye ball. A smokey color for this design would have helped. The tray did not want to seat properly in the tool. It took several try's to get the lid to lock up correctly. Bottom line there are much better systems out there and this isn't one of them.
