A fabulous tool

Brownell's pin punches with replaceable "pins" are a truly wonderful addition to my tool box. As a enthusiastic "Do-It-Yourself" tinkerer, I have bent a few, long, small diameter punches over the years. So it's great to be able to just replace the pin instead of buying a whole new punch. A big THANKS to Brownell's.

Must understand how to use!

Other than the prrice of replacement pins having skyrocketed over the years, these are some of the finest options I've seen for small diameter pin punches. Anyone who has ever tried to dislodge a stuck small pin has inevitability encountered where the punch bends or breaks. This design allows you to easily replace the pin rather than the entire punch. The problem I see with people complaining is that they don't understand that these pins can be cut to length. This allows the user to get a solid transfer of energy to loosen stubborn pins. Trust me, if you hit a stuck pin with a 2" long pin shaft, it IS going to bend or break! Simply cut the pin down so that it extends 1/4"-1/2" beyond the retainer and now you have a sturdy starter punch to get that pin broken free and moving. Then switch to a longer pin length to drive the pin free.. if you follow this advice this setup will last a good long time! Much more affordable than buying quality punches of the same diameter in multi lengths!

Excellent Tool

Well made tool.

Versatile and strong

Great punches. You do have to take care if a pin is sticking up as with any flat nose punch. I cut the long pins to various lengths In approximately 3/8ths increments to drive stubborn pins out and to prevent bending the drift pins. Been using them for 30 plus years and just ordered all new pins........DBW

Great for Micro Pins

Superb quality! Just what I needed for a Micro Pin on a Browning Buckmark rear sight.

Not the best design

It did what I needed it for but it's kind of a stupid design. The threads back off immediately and make the pin wobbly. I wish it had a taper at the hole in the back of the cap so it would screw down more and get more engagement on the pin. Not sure what the point in breaking down like this even is because you can't store the pin inside it to keep it safe from being bent either.

good for nothing

This tool lasted only 4 minutes before it bent badly and broke. The pin is actually too long, and bends too easily, and comes loose at the attaching nut, and can't be tightened at all, unless you stick the handle in a vise and use a locking pliers to tighten it. But that doesn't help, even after I tried to straighten it and shorten it. I used this to try to remove the the take down screw pin in a Winchester 62 (1890). I finally dug out the screw with my Dremel, and ordered another one and pin. I would return it if I could.....
