Gre-tan’s great
I have used several Gre-tan products…all have been great! This one is great as well.
Stopped blanking!
Rem 700 BDL 338 RUM was piercing and even blanking primers. These are premium quality! I will be converting my other 700s to these premium firing pin assemblies!
A great FP assembly
As an old competitive shooter / smith and hunter this is one of the first items I replace in every 700 LA or SA I own or for my customers, the other is the trigger. Greatly improves ignition issues and speeds lock time in all 700's trued or stock. A must for anyone still running a J-lock FP assembly.
The Best
This is the best Rem 700 firing pin assembly I have ever had. The shroud is finely machined aluminum that is then satin nickel plated. The spring closely fits the firing pin. The firing pin has interrupted spiral fluting for weight reduction. The spiral of the pin is opposite the spiral of the spring which reduces vibration. The pin tip is a perfect hemisphere. Very high quality and the assembly I will buy from now on.
Cured OEM cocking piece slamfire
I installed a Timney on a brand new 700 long action, and while going through safety checks noticed it would slam fire if cycled hard. This trigger was in a short action I had for 5 years and thousands of rounds with no issues so I knew it wasn't the trigger. The Rem cocking piece was very rounded looking compared to the others I have and I suspected it was slipping over the sear. Replaced with the Gretan and no issues with slamfires anymore.
Very Nice
Very nice and well made product. Lock time is much faster than the original junk J Lock assembly. Fluted, lightweight firing pin and no more crooked spring that drags the inside of the bolt assembly like the original Remington junk. I needed this to install a Magpul Hunter 700L stock on my 270 Remington 700 since the J Lock was too long for the bolt to operate fully. This fit the bill perfectly.
Perfect !!!
Very good
Did not fit PTG bolt
Looks like the quality is very good, but just a heads-up when using this with an aftermarket PTG Bolt, that the shroud is too big for this particular bolt. I could not thread it all the way in. My bolt could be out of spec., I don't know, but it does fit the stock Remington bolt just fine and the fit and finish is really nice.
