Not As Hard As You Think
I have an early 1970's Universal M-1 Carbine that I was giving to my teenage daughter. To try to make the gun as user friendly as possible, I wanted to put a LimbSaver recoil pad on but all were way too big. So I reluctantly ordered the small size grind to fit expecting it to be a big mess. With a belt sander, WD-40 and 4 hours over few nights, the recoil pad looks custom made. I would not hesitate to do another one.
Limbsaver pads work
I have tried every pad on the market and these work. They don't look as good as a Pachmier leather faced pad but for taming recoil they're much better. Thank you for a great product. Yours Bruce
10542 Limb Saver MED Grind to Fit Pad
Good pad a little harder to work than some of the others. Use plenty of wd-40 while grinding it and should not have any issues. If you want to round off the edges use another brand.
it does what it says
this is the second grind to fit i have bought. it gets a 4 b/c the installation takes time if you do it correctly. but its worth the time! the included instructions are a helpful, but you dont have to have a grinding jig to fit it. you do need a good eye for angles and lines. i will buy another one when the need arises.
good for shorter stocks
I have a short barrel 12ga Remington 870, I cut the butt stock down 1.5 inches to better fit with my body armor, but that reduces the dimensions of the butt pad area. this small pad was the closest to the new dimensions. it was easy to fit and really helps to tame the full power slugs and buck shot that I use. bird shot is almost like a 5.56 rifle recoil.
limb saver grind to fit
They are a little more difficult to get a good finish. Allow for a little more time on the install. On limb saver's web site you can download templates to see if a certain pad will fit.
