GL ENHANCED MAGAZINE WELLS FOR GLOCK® 19 GEN 3

GL ENHANCED MAGAZINE WELLS FOR GLOCK® 19 GEN 3 Reviews & Ratings

The Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well for GLOCK 19 GEN 3 is a high performance, purpose-built GLOCK frame magazine well. It was designed to enhance and ensure positive magazine insertion in high stress scenarios. Its sleek and ergonomic design features also provide excellent concealment and ensure minimal printing to the user's clothing. Ramp and edge geometry allow for the smooth removal of faulty or stuck magazines during reloading or immediate action events.

The Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well is optimized for use with standard capacity GLOCK factory magazines, Magpul GL9® PMAGs®, and a variety of aftermarket floorplates and extensions that are available for both. Recent generations of reduced capacity (10 rd) factory GLOCK magazines have several dimensional differences which may interfere with any magazine well, including the Magpul GL Enhanced Magazine Well. Some large aftermarket floorplates may also interfere.

Due to inherent variances in GLOCK frame production, if an excessively tight fit is experienced during the installation of an Enhanced Magazine Well that requires excessive force it is recommended that a professional gunsmith complete the installation to mitigate the potential for frame damage.

Looks great! LE mags are no-go.
I wanted to avoid paying 4x as much for other brands, but may end up adding it to the price I paid for this one. My magazines are all stamped law enforcement/military except for a 22 round factory Glock mag that came with the Glock range bag. Once installed the only mag that will fully seat is the long 22 rounder. The others are about 1/64" away from latching. Dept. armorer says I'll have to either use a G17/G22 length magazine, or add extensions to my issued ones. It's my backup and off duty sidearm, so longer mags are out. I'm wondering if it's possible to shave a small amount of material from the horseshoe shaped flat bottom surface to get the mags to latch. No, I'm not concerned about the myth of modified pistols putting people in prison for defending themselves with one. It's the threat who determines the level of force they find themselves subjected to. In any case, if anyone has any ideas that don't involve another hundred buck part in addition to this less expensive one I'm all ears. I really like the size of this one as it has enough of a flare without turning the pistol into a bucket in the IWB holster.

So So
I bought the enhanced mag well because I had trouble getting a full grip on my G4 Glock 19. My pinky felt like it was always just about to slip off the frame. This mag well fixed that issue as it gives a slight lip at the bottom of the frame for my pinky to rest on, and overall makes my grip of the gun feel more positive. The issue I ran into was that with the little bit of added material on the bottom of the mag well that it makes seating magazines more difficult. The only way I can get mags to seat and click firmly into place is if I give the mag a very positive strike from the heel of the mag or press the mag very firmly into the mag well. It is definitely not as fluid changing mags with this enhanced mag well added as I'm now more concerned I don't have the mag seated properly and always give it an extra slap to make sure it's firmly locked into the mag well. I'm going to keep it on my gun, as I shoot my gun more comfortably with it on, but I wouldn't use it for "carry" purposes.

Disappointing
First off, I have many MagPul products and until now have enjoyed the fact that they are quality parts, easy to assemble, and work well with out modifications. I had read the reviews and saw it's a 50/50 split of good and bad. When it arrived I put it on my factory stock Gen 3 G-19. I inserted a factory mag and it fell out ! I inserted it again, slamming it in with my palm, it still did not lock in place. I inserted a MagPul G-19 mag (I only have one) and it worked ! I got out about 12 magazines and found that my older magazines that were marked Austria were the ones not working at all. The mags I had that were newer that only said Glock and were gen 4 mags worked, but had to be inserted firmly and did not always lock in. I realized it's a combination of the base plates and the height on the cutout for the mag release on the different generations of magazines were the problem. I contemplated sending it back. I was very disappointed that MagPul had dropped the ball on working the bugs out of this. I really liked the look, the fit and feel of this mag well on my polymer 80. So I decided to chance sanding in where the magazine bases were touching and it worked! I used a Dremel witha a sanding wheel. Now all the different mags I have work with ease. There is enough room to get your thumb and index finger in to pull a stuck mag out from the bottom, if ever needed. I am going to send ta copy of this to MagPul as this problem needs to be addressed. Most people won't go through what I did to fix it. They will just cuss it and send it back !!

Not so good
The product is made well but not designed well. It does not work with the medium to large back straps that come with gen4 Glocks.
