Nice product!!!

Solves stovepipe issues!!

Cured Misfires.

I discovered that the original firing ping had worn down and was barely striking the rim. Also 1 side of the recoil spring retainer clip at the rear of the action was broken off. It was only firing about 2-3 rounds per 10 round mag. Found the problem with a bore scope. After replacing the firing ping, and recoil spring assembly, it now fires 100% of the time. Loving my Mach III again. Quick turn around and the parts fit perfectly.

Excellent Products

Volquartsen products have a well deserved excellent reputation and my experience confirms that. The replacement firing pin was purchased to replace the OEM Ruger MkIV firing pin that has been reported to break at the lightening hole after much use. The VQ should last forever. I have had VQ extractors in an earlier MkII and three 10/22s and they've all functioned perfectly. The three failures reported by one user above require more information as this is unprecedented.

Nice finish but Extractor still snapped

I have 4 Ruger Mark III pistols and they all have Volquartsen firing pins and extractors, that is until the one in my Competition Target snapped in two after just about 200 rounds. I installed Volquartsen brand parts because I believed them to be superior to the originals. No problems at all with the firing pins. Volquartsen does a nice job of finishing their products, but I actually haven't noticed an improvement in performance over the Ruger original parts. I think these parts will eventually last longer than the Ruger originals, but having one break so early in its life makes me wonder. I am not sure I can now recommend these parts because this type of failure represents to me a quality control deficiency, unfortunately. I'll just have to see how the other extractors hold up.

Faulty Extractor

Bought an extractor from Brownells in the Volquartsen VC2EE packet listed on this website. It snapped at about 200-300 rounds. Bought a different brand and have shot a couple thousand rounds to date In my Mark II Competition and that extractor looks new. As with other users who experienced premature breakage with the Volquartsen extractor, DO NOT BUY ! Junk.

0 for 2 on Volquartsen Extractor

See my earlier Dec 2015 post on this very item. The replacement Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor also broke at the same spot as the first one. I put this 2nd extractor in my Ruger Mark III Hunter. The first one was used in the Mark III Competition Target. In both cases, the extractor sheared off at the 90 degree turning point at the opposite end of the claw. I just did not expect this disappointment from a Volquartsen product. Both extractors failed after only several hundred .22LR rounds. I'll be going back to Ruger original extractors. No problems yet with their firing pin.
