EOTECH XPS2 & XPS3 LENS COVER

EOTECH XPS2 & XPS3 LENS COVER Reviews & Ratings

EOTECH XPS2 & XPS3 LENS COVER

GG&G continues to be the only manufacturer of Lens Covers for The EOTech XPS Scopes. These patented lens covers fit between the EOTech XPS2-0 and 3-0 hood and the body of the EOTech housing. They are spring operated so that once pressure is applied to release them from the closed position, they spring open. The rear cover lays across the top, so as not to interfere with the field of view. The front cover opens and serves as a sun shield. However, if heavy brush etc. is encountered, the front lens cover will fold back so that it is not damaged. Because of the contours of the EOTech housing, these covers are not 100% waterproof, but they do prevent most dust, debris, rain and snow from accumulating on the lenses.

Installs easily, fits perfectly on an XPS2-300
I was using a Hugo Industries cover, but the fit was not very secure and I had to keep track of it when I took it off. When I stumbled upon the GG&G cover that would stay attached in use, I decided to swap it for the Hugo. GG&G instructions say the EOTech must be removed from the host to install. Not necessary unless you have something else installed directly behind the optic. Just remove the 3 T-15 Torx screws holding the protective cover on, unscrew the battery cap, then slide the cover rearward off the dovetail slots. I rolled the lens cover on as pictured in the directions and it fit like a second (subdermal) skin. I dusted the underside of the cover with baby powder and it slid onto the optic with just a little jostling. Apply blue Loctite and reinstall the 3 Torx screws and battery cover. The lens covers operate as described. Highly recommended.

AWESOME!
These are awesome and easy to put on if you do it right. I am a REAL gunsmith (unlike 99% of the clowns that claim to be on here), and the best way I have found to install these are A.) You HAVE to read and follow the installation instructions and directions at least twice! B.) when re-installing the hood cover, do NOT use dish soap as recommended by the manufacture, but instead, use use a good quality gun grease that is safe to use on rubber, or vasoline will work and will not harm rubber, I use vasoline in my gun shop all the time.

AWESOME!
These are AWESOME! Great quality and easy to install IF you read the directions. As a gunsmith, I try to help "do it yourselfer's" with any helpful hint I can so, here it is: READ THE DIRECTIONS THREE TIMES before you attempt to install this unit! I use slide grease instead of dish soap (as recommended by the MFG) when sliding the hood back over the unit because it will not degrade the rubber. I do not recommend using dish soap on anything firearms.

ESSENTIAL XPS2 & XPS3 OPTIC ACCESSORY
Top quality design, matericals, and workmanship. Made specifically for the EOTech XPS2 and XPS3 electronic optics. Fit is tight for weather-proofness so do read the instructions BEFORE you install (damage can result with incorrect assembly!). About the best product I know of for keeping dust, mud, rain, snow, and any other stuff off the lenses of these optics. Stays with the unit and gun under all circumstances. Does not add meaningful weight to the installed item. A bit costly, but this is very important protection for a high cost/high quality electronic sight. I would buy this again.

Fits Perfectly
Fit an AR-mounted XPS-3 perfectly. Tips based on my install: 1. READ and follow the installation instructions fully (really). The install process was not intuitive and I would have damaged the unit if I had not followed the instructions. 2. The GGG unit is a very tight fit, so DO use a few drops of dish washing detergent as lubricant when you slide the unit into its final position. The lube goes on the outside of the top and sides of the GGG unit (the sides that contact the metal XPS protective housing). 3. Put a few wraps of masking tape around the loose XPS battery cap so it does not bang around and mar the XPSs finish as you do the install.

For "XPS" NOT "EXPS"
Do not order this model if you have the EXPS model Eotech, it will not fit and is made strictly for the XPS models. I ordered one and found this out the hard way but Brownells gladly accepted it as a return and GG&G squared me away on which model I needed (EXPS Scope & Lense Cover Combo #GGG-1424)I gave this 5 stars because of its quality and the GG&G and Brownells customer service.

Poor Fit
Ordered this with my new Eotech. It did not fit through you could see it was designed for the sight. Instead of sending it back, I cut four slits with a fingernail clipper (one fore and aft on each side) in in bottom of the thing and ripped this initial cut up about 2/3 the depth of the side rubber. This gave the unit the flex to fit, although I have to use a rubber band around it to hold the front flap down. Poor fit to say the least. Wish there was an alternative.
