The Brownells Ejector Removal Tool is a versatile fixture lets you remove plunger-style ejectors from standard 0.700" and 0.510" diameter bolts quickly and safely without launching parts across the room. Works for a variety of popular rifles, including AR-15, AR-style .308 rifles, Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage, and Sako. Rugged, lightweight body machined from 6061 billet aluminum securely holds bolt while threaded, tool steel shank compresses and captures ejector spring and aligns the roll pin for easy removal with a punch. Gradually loosen the shank to relieve spring tension. Instructions are included with the Brownells Ejector Removal Tool.

It's OK but has design flaws

I had high hopes for this tool but quickly realized the flaw that other reviewers touched on. While it has an adapter for the .308, for .223 and .300 blk, none is provided and the tolerance is inadequate and it functions poorly. It really needs an adapter for the smaller size. So I made one. I thought why not use a old case? After some some sizing and a little fine work, I made an adapter that works perfect but really, the tool should come with one already!! It's a nice design but there's room for improvements including the adapter for the smaller size but also an anti-rotate cap which would also be simple to incorporate. The adapter I built can be held with some needle nose to keep it from rotating and turning the ejector when you are compressing the spring prior to installing the roll pin. The tool has potential but there is some room for improvement. Yes I would recommend it to a friend but I'd explain the flaw and the simple fix for it.

2nd Rate

Bought this to make my job a little easier even after reading how the threads were rough, I thought no problem! When I was familiarizing myself with it I noticed the the spring compressor bolt is way to sloppy! With the bolt threaded half way in, there is over 1/8" travel from side to side. This doesn't sound like much but it does not cover the ejector enough that you are a bit leery about the ejector flying somewhere into a black hole never to be found! PS 5 stars for innovation and 2 stars for threading and 0 star for QC

Works OK, had some alignment problems

Got this to remove the ejector from an AR15 bolt. The forcing screw kept slipping off of the end of the ejector pin, especially on the JP Enhanced bolt. I was able to finagle it eventually. Not sure if maybe a hole was mis-aligned. I will try cutting down a spent cartridge case and putting it on the end of the forcing screw. Otherwise, it got the job done after some frustration.

Good Idea Gone Bad

I ordered this when I ordered the FailZero EXO coated AR-15 bolt & carrier as I wanted to verify the head space. The FailZero extractor retaining ping was staked on one side in the bolt body. Alas, the pin was not going to line up with the hole designed to allow the pin to be captured while driven from the bolt body.
