CRITICAL DUTY 45 ACP +P AMMO

CRITICAL DUTY 45 ACP +P AMMO Reviews & Ratings

Designed to meet the needs of those who demand superior barrier penetration and prefer a full-size handgun for their personal protection. Critical Duty® is loaded with the tough Hornady® FlexLock® bullet that delivers "barrier blind" performance when shot through common urban barriers.

The FlexLock® bullet incorporates two revolutionary Hornady® features to deliver superior barrier penetration and consistent performance in FBI tactical handgun ammunition tests (FBI Protocol).

The patented Hornady® Flex Tip® design eliminates clogging and aids bullet expansion. A large mechanical jacket-to-core InterLock® band works to keep the bullet and core from separating for maximum weight retention, excellent expansion, consistent penetration and terminal performance through all FBI test barriers.

Bright nickel-plated cases simplify chamber checks in reduced light. Additionally, all Critical Duty® ammunition is loaded with low flash propellant to help preserve night vision in low-light firing.

Excellent ammunition
I fired this ammo out of a Kimber TLE-RL Custom II and has zero feed issues. Recoil is noticeably less than regular 230gn ball ammo, and I LOVE the smell of the burnt powder... One other reviewer commented on failure to feed, and to test this theory, I fired about 150 rounds through my weapon; to include 230gn ball ammo and 230gn cast powder coated ammo. I ensured my weapon was plenty dirty and I had 1 fail to feed on the ball ammo, and multiple on the cast ammo (which is due to the oversize of the projectile, these were intended for my Glock, who's chamber is significantly more tolerant). Using a Wilson Combat 8rd magazine (which was good and dirty by the way) I had zero feed issues, and from the standing, unsupported position, 10 yards it provided me with a 2" group That is more than adequate enough for me. I have also used this in a Glock 22 (different caliber of course) out to 35 yards during police qualification and this ammo holds with the best Federal, HSM, and other have to offer. Another huge positive is the powder is very low flash for night firing.

Best out there
Great ammo. I carry a 4th Gen Glock 21 45ACP and have never had a miss fire or jam. They feed smooth and fast from my 13RD mag. Very accurate and dependable. You guys who have trouble with feeding need to check your weapons out.

Good to go defensive carry load
Shot this round in a Les Baer Premier II and an old Detonics Service Master. No problems feeding, firing or ejecting. Both bbls are unsupported, no ramp but are throated and polished. Round is stout but accurate. Less expensive than Federal HST if you buy it right. Can't see me carrying anything else.

Critical Duty in Kimber 1911 TLE II
I am a repeat customer of Hornady ammunition and reloading components. I appreciate the Hornady website and reloading manuals too. I intended to use this ammo as daily carry and home defense. The recoil was satisfying and accuracy was acceptable. Critical Defense 45ACP 220 FlexLock will not feed reliably in my Kimber 1911 TLE II 5". Of 25 rounds, between 10 and 15 failed to feed or failed to chamber. The Kimber was thoroughly cleaned and oiled approximately one month prior to the range session. I employed three different Wilson Combat 47D magazines which have never failed in this or my other 1911s. I immediately fired various JHPs in the same mags, including Speer, Corbon, and Black Hills with no malfunctions. I fired 10-12 military surplus mags with various hardball and had no malfunctions.
