COMPAC GRIPS Reviews & Ratings
Reviews Summary
Overall, customers appreciate the COMPAC GRIPS for enhancing comfort, control, and recoil mitigation while shooting, especially for J-frame and small revolvers. However, some noted that they may add bulk and could be incompatible with certain holsters. Quality can vary by batch, so while most reviews are positive, there are occasional concerns about fit and finish.

Surprisingly nice
Much nicer quality than other recent production Pachmayr grips I've ordered. These came with well defined molded features and minimal leftover flashing. The grips fit nicely around the trigger guard and are not warped. Really quite nice. As for the grips themselves, these follow the general shape of S&W target stocks, but are a bit thicker towards the top of the grip due to the extra material along the back of the frame. They rotate and slip less than wood target stocks and absorb recoil well, but keep the general look of wood, unlike Hogue rubber grips. They also grab fabric and pick up grime less than Hogues. Overall a nice upgrade if you want to maintain the classic profile of your revolver, but want more control and comfort shooting it.
They fit my hand perfectly.
I bought two of these grips, one for a 1975 Colt Detective Special and one for a 1979 S&W Model 34-1 snub nose, square butt, J-frame .22LR revolver. With the Pachmayr grips on both revolvers, I no longer have to adjust my grip when I bring the weapon on to a target, they fill my medium sized hands very well and are quite comfortable. I can also now use HKS speed loaders with the Colt DS, which was problematic with the OEM grips. I think these are an excellent addition for either revolver.
Fits my Hand just right

Much improved group size
Gives a lot better grip on firearm. I have these on Blackhawk and Single Six. Look good and much better grip.
Worked great on Armscor M206
Installed this to replace skinny factory wood grips on Armscor M206. Major improvement on handling and helps reduce felt recoil. Fit was almost perfect, but it works well. You can see a small gap on front strap. I would recommend it.
Great grip
Tried all the Pachmayr grips, this one is my favorite. Not too big, not too small, just perfect.
Presentation grip: J-frame round butt
This grip ended my search for a comfortable/concealable/controllable grip for my S&W 442 Airweight. 200-round range sessions are now comfortable and pleasant from round 1 through the end. My speed, accuracy and consistency increased greatly simply by switching to this. It fits my big hands/long fingers perfectly and the rubber checkering just clings to the skin in a death grip. On top of all that, it sits right at home in my IWB clip holster with no "shirt printing" nor discomfort to speak of. My ideal grip.
Definately Upgrades the J frame
I purchased this for Smith & Wesson Model 640 j frame 357 magnum. The regular grips help little to mitigate recoil from the 357 in a small frame. These grips contour the frame and protect the web of the hand from magnum recoil. Installing is quick and easy. Comfortable to carry and shoot!
Perfect for shooting, large for carrying
For those who shoot their J-frame revolvers regularly, these grips are a great choice. They are a good bit larger than factory grips, and shaped well to fit most hands, and make shooting powerful +P loads as pleasant as possible. However, they do add significant bulk and weight to what is usually a small concealable handgun, so be aware that if you choose these grips, you are giving up a measure of concealability. Best used on a home-defense/nightstand handgun, or one that is carried in a belt holster, purse, or roomy coat pocket. Also a good choice for J-frame Kit Guns or plinkers.
Didn’t fit
The grips were fine, but the attachment screw is in the wrong place. Although the information states that they will fit a Colt Police Positive Special, they don’t. I have returned them, awaiting refund.
