Loading these is slightly tricky until you learn what needs to be done. Hands down best speed loader I've used. I am mainly a semi auto guy, for what that's worth.

If you used to twist type speed loaders, these push type loaders will require practice to master. After about 30 minutes of practice I am already faster than with twist type. These Safariland loaders are well built and easy to use once you work with them. Thank You Brownells!

I've started using these over the twist knob speedloader and am liking them very much. They are a bit more difficult to load than the twist knob, but not enough for me to recommend the knob type over this. I've carried them in my pocket a bit and haven't had any problem with them accidentally releasing. Recommended.

It's just like my older one, but with a dust cover, I love it!

I have owned Safariland Comp 2 speedloaders over time and now that I have a K-frame again, I will buy some more. I call this an experts speedloader because it is a bit more complicated to use, but once you get the hang of them you won't want to go back to the other brands. Loading the speedloader isn't as simple as the twist models, but it isn't that hard. Loading the gun is extremely fast but you do have to remember to hold the speedloader by the outside housing. Simply align the cartridges to go into the cylinder and push. With the push, the speadloader releases and the cartridges fall into place.

I've owned and used Safariland Comp II speedloaders - as well as Comp I, Comp III, and other brand speedloaders for the past thirty years. I felt compelled to write a review after reading the only other review posted at the time of this writing. If the previous reviewer had problems charging the speedloaders, it was because he was using the wrong technique. They are very easy to charge if the bullets are simply pressed against a flat surface prior to pressing and turning the locking knob. The previous reviewer also commented he had problems when trying to load the revolver, but commented this may have been because the speedloader didn't fit the revolver well. No speedloader will work well if it doesn't fit the revolver you are trying to load with it. My personal experience has been that Comp II speedloaders hold the rounds more securely than other brands, and discharge the rounds upon loading more positively than other brands. Some other brands require you to align the speedloader with the cylinder and then turn a release knob to load. The Comp II speedloader requires you to align the speedloader and then simply push the body of the speedloader forward to load. The release button is on the front of the loader body and contacts the revolver's ejector star and releases the rounds as it is pushed forward. In all the years I've used them I've never had one break, and have rarely had one malfunction. Usually, I caused the malfunction, not the speedloader.

Speed loading requires practice to master. I like these particular loaders because once you get the feel they load the cylinder very reliably and they are fast. That part didnt take long to learn. Loading the speed loader and locking the rounds in place seems to be a lot harder to learn. I also like the weight - they are not heavy. I recommend getting 6 snap caps so you can practice.

I use these in IDPA competitions and they greatly improved my time over the twist release brand (at least in my mind.)Holds the rounds securely and positively releases them once activated. The only thing about them that I might wonder about is that they must be activated with some force. That may change with time/use so I'm not sure how much of a complaint or detriment it is. Overall, I was very pleased.

I really don’t want to give a star rating on this product but it is required. I will explain. A friend of mine has these for his S&W 686 and loves them as do a number of other ICORE shooters I know. So when, I bought my new Python I ordered 4 of these. In order to use speed loaders with the new Python, the left grip has to be modified. I purchased custom grips with a cutout for the speedloaders. However, even with the modified grip, the CompII speedloader will not fully seat in the cylinder. As near as I can tell, the holes in the speedloader are spaced differently than the holes in the cylinder which results in the rounds binding when attempting to load. As this speedloader has to make contact with the cylinder to eject the rounds, it just doesn’t work. I assume this will work with the original Python but I can’t say for sure. I have started using HKS speedloaders and they work just fine. So, if you have a new Python, these are not for you. If they do fit your gun, I have heard very good things about them.

I ordered this for one of my customers for use with his Taurus. After severial minutes we finally got the rounds to lock and stay in the loader, this became easier as we worked the loader. We found the same issues when loading the weapon it took some work to enguage the release. I think the idea is good and mybe the issues that we had are due to not fitting the Taurus well.
