Love the Combat series grips. Have them on 1911s, CZ75B, and Para Ordnance P14. These caused a minor problem on a new SA35. When installed, magazines had to be pried out--they were really stuck! the metal inserts on the inside of the grips used to stiffen them was pressing against the magazine body very tightly. A few minutes with a fine flat file took down the offending bump. Magazines now fall free as with the stock factory grips. Minor to me because they fit my hand perfectly.
Fits TISAS 1911, with ambi-safety!
I just bought these for my new TISAS SDS 'Carry' 1911 .45 ACP, taking a chance. Pleasantly surprised to find that the production mold has been modified to provide a recess for ambi-safety lever on the right grip panel. You'll see though (look real close) that there is a little ridge along the opening to the recess that may touch the lever....I carefully trimmed it away with a new (sharp) single-edge razor blade. If you don't have an ambi-safety and leave the ridge there, it actually closes off the recess, as though it wasn't there. Very well done feature. I am totally impressed and pleased with these, especially because I have large hands, and the TISAS lacks checkering or stippling on the front strap which these make up for beautifully and effectively. The only "negative" might be that they are a bit tough to stretch and hold in place fully while inserting the screws, but that's actually a good thing - it ensures they will remain totally snug against the frame over time, if the rubber stretches a tad.
Improves Handling
These grips went on a Kimber Pro Carry; I am not a fan of smooth frontstraps on 1911s and this is to me the easiest way to put checkering on that location, especially on a gun with an aluminum frame. Just like the much older Pachmayr grips on my Springfield 1911s from 20 years ago, they fill out the grip and provide a more solid purchase on the pistol. No problems installing them either.

I love these grips. Some girth may be added, but the extra grip and control is more than worth it. I have small hands, but found that better grip is more valuable than better feel. The Marines used them for 30 years, and I prefer them over the "new" G10 grips any day. Buy them, they're quality, and a classic!
My favorite way to grip a handgun
Unlike what's in the picture (which shows a cutaway headed to the mag release), this is Pachmayr's plain-jane model: No cutaway, no thumb bump, no foot for the magazine baseplate to snag on. Though a 1911's side stocks are called "grips," most of the gripping power comes fore and aft, meaning if you don't get a rubber wraparound like this, then a strip of hockey tape (or the much more expensive option of checkering the frame) is a good idea. The Pachmayr is my favorite, though. It's what the Marine Corps used for years, providing a consistent grip, an all-business look, and not much added girth. I prefer Pachmayr's version of this model number from a few decades ago, which was identical but for the absence of medallions.
Do Not Buy These Grips!
I purchased two sets and the signature medallions fell off after two range sessions. Now there are black holes with glue residue on the side of the grips. Sadly, I have a set from 1990 without the medallions that held up fine. Cheap stuff - sending back to Brownells
