Sand bags
Great little canvas bags. Threw the draw strings away and sewed bags closed. Perfect supplemental support. Thanks Brownells.
Solid support
These bags a great value and really work well for their intended purpose. The only negative is the drawstring is pretty worthless. I had Velcro sewn into mine, but honestly never adjust them. If I got more I would just sew them up permanently.
One Arm shooter approved !!!!
These bags are so cool. I lose things and I stuff nick nacks in them , when traveling to friends. I will buy more for gifts too. Great for loose bullets , cotton wads , and so on.
Strong bags and GREAT customer service!
I ordered 2 sets of these bags for a total of 6 bags but only got 5. I went to the on line Chat and told Brownells about the problem. No questions asked, I received another bag by EXPRESS MAIL two days later! Brownells stand behind their stuff! As for the bags I think they will work fine. They are heavy duty and well constructed. The bags are just the right size so you can put enough sand or whatever you want as media and the are easy to move around and arrange but give a steady platform.
Great!
I was looking for a cheaper alternative to leather "sand bags". Well this is it. The Brownell's shooting bag is made of strong canvas. Placed a strong plastic bag inside the Brownell's shooting bag then filled it up with playground sand (bought a large sac of sand for $2). Et voila....I have a great shooting bag for a fraction of the cost of the leather bags.
Nice, Simple, Inexpensive Bags
These are simple, durable cotton canvas bags that are in many cases more adjustable than the more expensive leather shooting bag rests. They are certainly easier to fill. If you use sand, put a piece of plastic at the top of the sand before sealing the canvas bag.
I like them with a little modification
The drawstrings are a bit wimpy. I changed it to paracord on one, but left the other two as is and they work fine. I dried some play sand bone dry, then put the sand in 1 gallon walmart freezer bags. I then rolled up the freezer bag and sealed the double zipper. I then inserted the freezer bag into the canvas bag and closed with the drawstring. This setup works great with no leakage of sand. Without the plastic bag you will have sand all over the place. Worth the money.
Well made
Exactly as described will need a liner to hold what ever media you decide to use.
These are great... but...
I'm glad I found these. But my only complaint would be the draw string. It's pretty much useless for holding in fine sand or other media. I removed the stiching and the draw string for the extra bag length, and closed the end with a wire hanger double wrapped. I will buy more of these for sure. It'd be nice if they ditched the draw string and left the extra length which could be cut down if the shooter wanted to shorten it up.
Were these made in China?
I ordered a three (3) pack of these. Based on the description, I was led to believe these were small canvas sacks designed to be filled and used as shooting bags. These bags are falling apart. Please look at the photos I attached. The seams are now sewn correctly. These are horrible. They need to be extensively reworked. I would not buy these again. I would not recommend them to anyone.
