BULLET COMPARATOR INSERTS

BULLET COMPARATOR INSERTS Reviews & Ratings

The Sinclair Bullet Comparator inserts are meant to be used with the Sinclair Bullet Comparator and Bump Gage Body. These inserts are stainless steel and machined with a taper and a short straight section to more accurately duplicate the chamber throat. This eliminates the wobble experienced with many comparators which have standard drilled holes. Our design allows you to quickly and accurately measure and compare bullet ogive-to-base as well as loaded round ogive-to-cartridge-base measurements. This measurement gives more consistent results than measuring overall lengths since the meplat (the open tip of the bullet) can very by several thousandths of an inch from bullet to bullet.

Works great as always
I like these better than the other companies comparator inserts probably because of the bevel on the insert seats better on the ogive.

Nice part
It's a nicely machined part. Nice addition to my set.

Excellent Measuring Upgrade
This is a far superior comparator insert to the standard aluminum ones. The fit on the bullet is more precise and repeatable resulting in a measurement that is consistent. I will upgrade all my inserts to this style. If you have recorded measurements using aluminum inserts you will need to remeasure using these.

Sinclair Quality and Precision
The same quality you come to expect in any Sinclair product. It fits Hornady bullet comparator base as well. If you want the best means of repeatable bullet seating depth verification, use a bullet comparator set with your calipers. It measures off the caliber of your bullet ogive. This is the same spot that your die uses to seat with. The meplat is not what you want to measure from if your looking for top precision and top precision is attained with repeatable and precise seating depth.

Steel is more accurate than aluminum
Very high quality, very easy to use and gives precise repeatable readings. Steel is much better than lower cost aluminum comparator inserts. The problem mentioned in the above review was likely due to attaching the comparator body with the thumb screw on the wrong side of the tool which results in misalignment.

VLD BULLET CONSIDERATIONS
Both the comparator and the inserts are precisely machined, so much more accurate than the Hornady version. Size Selection: I bought the .22 caliber insert to use when reloading my .22 Hornet with Berger's excellent 40 gr. VLD FB Varmint bullets. Due to the shape of the bullet, the end of the case (rather than the bullet) contacts the insert, so preventing an accurate measurement. I've ordered the 20 cal insert for use with the Bergers. I'll use the .22 cal insert for chubbier bullets, such as Hornady's 45 gr. Hornet Varmints.

Good Fit
Good fit without any wobble. I use these bullets for everything.
