The Brownells BRN-22 Takedown Receiver is ready to be the foundation of your custom rimfire rifle build - at price never before seen on a target receiver. Even better, the BRN-22 Takedown is fully compatible with the ever-popular Ruger® 10/22®Takedown, so you can choose from the vast array of barrels, stocks, triggers, and other custom components for the 10/22® platform. Each BRN-22 Takedown receiver is precision-machined from 6061 aluminum billet to exacting tolerances. Why machined instead of forged, like most commercial receivers? All you need to do is look inside at the smooth, clean interior to realize that a machined receiver can be held to much tighter tolerances for a precise fit with other parts. After machining, BRN-22 Takedown receivers get a tough matte black Type 2 hardcoat anodized finish (similar to the finishes found on many AR-15 receivers) that blends with most barrel and 10/22® trigger module finishes. There’s even a pre-drilled cleaning rod hole at the rear of each Brownells BRN-22 Takedown receiver for easy cleaning of the bore from the chamber, the PROPER way to prevent cleaning rod from damage to the muzzle crown that can compromise accuracy.

I had a stock for a takedown so I decided why not build a 10/22 sbr. Form 1 filed, dropped it off for cerakote now the waiting game begins. For the price I may buy another to build my daughter a .22

Great Quality
Bought the railed version, and the rail is too high for standard sights. You should know this before purchasing. I had to build extended height sights. The fit and finish of this receiver is extremely high quality, and the bolt moves very smoothly. The anodizing is much nicer and more durable than the paint used on factory receivers. The barrel is fairly snug in the receiver, but the rifle is pretty inaccurate using a receiver mounted optic. The accuracy issues may have something to do with the barrel that was used. Accuracy is fantastic using the open sights mounted on the barrel.

BRN-22TR
I built my BRN-22TR with a Ruger bolt, charging handle and BX trigger which all dropped right in with no problems. I used a Tactical Solutions X-Ring Bull Barrel which has sights tall enough to clear the rail. I tried my stock Ruger takedown barrel, but the rail is too tall and blocks the sights. All in all I'm very happy with the receiver.
