BARRICADE

BARRICADE Reviews & Ratings

Moisture-displacing formula neutralizes the corrosive action of water, sweat, and fingerprints to provide long-lasting protection against rust. Metal treated with Barricade withstood 500 hours in a high-humidity test environment and resisted corrosion for 96 hours in continuous salt water spray tests. Dries to a thin, non-gumming film. Excellent penetrant for loosening rusted parts. Harmless to wood, leather and non-ferrous metals. Available as a liquid or aerosol, or in a 25-pak of individually wrapped, pre-soaked Take-Along Gun Cloths for on-the-go, anywhere cleaning. Formerly called Sheath.

SPECS: 4 1/2 fl oz. (133 ml) can w/spout cap, 6 oz. (170 g) aerosol, or box of 25 individually wrapped pre-soaked cloths, approximately 8" (20.3cm) x 5" (12.7cm).

Excellent Product When Used As Directed.
Fantastic product that performs as intended. All it takes is a thin film. In addition to rust prevention, Barricade works great with #0000 steel wool to remove light rust and speckling. The negative review of this product is outrageous. The user explicitly states that he used the product incorrectly and is then upset when it didn't lead to the results he wanted. The directions specifically state "Do not overuse". More is not better. A light wipe-on and done. Brownells should remove the negative review. I've used Barricade for many years with Excellent results. I know of no other product that works more effectively for this application.

Best I have used
I have used this since the 1970s when it was called Sheath. It is the best anti rust compound I have found. You wipe down your firearm and the it will prevent rust for a long period of time. I have muzzle loaders that have not been used in 20 years that have not rusted. I keep a rag handy that is coated with Barricade to wipe down any gun that I have used to keep from rusting until I am able to get to it to clean it. I would recommend this to anyone, even those in high humidity locations

Great Product
Have used this for years, back when it was called Sheath. It is one of the best rust preventives I have used in over 40 years of gunsmithing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for short or long term rust prevention. I have some firearms that are still rust free after over 20 years after a application of Sheath (Barricade)

Best Gun Care
When you speak of the two enemies of guns, there are politicians and RUST. However if you use Barricade (Sheath) to oil your firearms, you can forget about rust. I have used this product for 20+ years and have never had a problem with rust or corrosion even when I get snow, sleet or rain on my guns. It keeps actions working, barrels shiny, and free of fingerprints. It also cleans my shotgun barrels when I clean them regularly.

"Simplify your life"
Went on a recent hunting trip,in the past that meant bringing separate solvent and oil for cleaning. Now I just bring a little 1/2 oz. bottle of solvent and 8 to 10 packets of barricade. They're great to wipe down the gun and cut to size as a patch for a final barrel lube after cleaning.Saves space and convenient!

Excellent Product
I've been using this product for over five years now on both stored firearms and daily-use duty weapons with very good results. Regardless of the type of finish on the metal, (whether it's bluing, parkerizing, phosphate, stainless, or painted) this product will give you added protection against environmental factors such as moisture & sweat. Not only does it protect your weapons, but it will also enhance its overall appearance by giving it a deeper, darker look to it. One easy application method is to spray some on an small household type paintbrush or a shaving brush, then completely go over the portion of the firearm to which you're applying it to. This will not only give you a consistent coat, but will also allow you to apply it in hard to reach areas. A small amount goes a long way. The product will quickly dry and leave behind a non-greasy, very thin protective film. I have not seen any adverse effects on polymer, wood, or rubber items to date. Barricade has a very mild, almost pleasant smell to it which won't make you light-headed and it's very easy to work with.

One of the best on the market
As a gunsmith, I have tried almost everything out there for cleaning and protecting. Barricade is by far the best for both short and long term use.

Great product for ruining your metal!
I can't imagine a worse product for darn near anything, what do they put in this cr *p? I have a vintage H.Henry Hill straight razor I use. And the original plastic handles broke at the bolster by the pivot so I took them apaprt to replace them and stored the blade bathed in this cr *p for a few days. Well when I took it out it had some reddish bumpy growth all over it. Was like wiping off varnish, very sticky, the paper towel ripped trying ot wipe it off its so sticky. Acetone didn't touch it, then I started to realize that to my horror it actually etched the metal somehow...it looks foggy like a very light rust but Whiteish in color. Now I've been sanding the blade for over a half hour with 400 and 1000 grit sandpaper and its not really making any diff. In the blade, it is almost completely gone on the shank. It's a softer temper. So THANKS A LOT BICHWOOD CASEY! I didnt really like any of their products before, thought of them as average if that. Now I have a new arch enemy. So like I said great product if you want to ruin metal. There's hundreds of other products out there I'd rather use.
