Mossy barrel for my '54 870
This barrel fits effortlessly and at the right price. The matt finish( I believe a traditional finish is available) won't match the bluing on your Remington, but as home defense piece within easy reach, it more than hits the mark. Thank you Brownells!!!
Inexpensive upgrade, Quality product.
Quality, yet inexpensive product. Perfect fitment!
Great product.
Good vendor, no issues.
Work Good
OK to be completely honest the first time I saw mossberg making Remington barrels I was like what??? at first I thought it was a typo or a clerical error or me going crazy which is very possible but no mossberg stepped up and started making Remington barrels when Remington went out of business.… and actually they're pretty decent barrels I'm not surprised that a shotgun company knows what they're doing and know how to make a barrel even if it's for their competition or was there a competition.
Mossberg 870 replacement barrel
The installation was very simple and fit was very good. The only issue was the packaging didn’t protect the barrel enough to prevent some of the blueing being rubbed off during transit.
Mossberg 870 barrel
My first review was never posted, so I'll try again....
I was exited to finally find a barrel for my Remington 870. For some reason, Mossberg makes them. Lucky for me! The barrel comes from the factory wrapped in plastic and was packed nicely by Brownells. The barrel is missing finish from what could be tool marks, or maybe from being thrown around in a warehouse.
I waited too long to find this barrel, so I won't be sending it back. I prefer to put the first scratches on it myself though.
Mossberg 870 barrel finish
Remington 870 barrels are difficult to find and expensive. Luckily Mossberg makes Remington barrels at a reasonable price! The barrel was sealed in plastic and packed carefully by Brownells.
It arrived today and I found one side of the barrel has tool marks (?) where the finish was removed. It already looks like the trunk gun it was meant to be. I've been looking for an 870 barrel for a while and I'm still excited I found one so haven't considered returning it. I'd rather put the scratches on myself though.
Needed polishing
There was a bunch of mill marks in the chamber that would cause short brass shotgun shells to hang up and not cycle. I had to remove a lot of material with a Dremmel tool and then I polished it smooth. It works great now. All the other machines surfaces are really sharp and I cut myself feeling around the chamber with my finger. I recommend easing all the sharp edges in the chamber and where the barrel meets the receiver, to prevent injury.
Should work fine
I bought this barrel for my new 870 Express. Shipping was normal, took four days. The packaging was decent but once it was out of the plastic there was some wear on the right side of the barrel where it rubbed on the plastic. It was very easy to fit to the gun as expected. Looking down the barrel the bead sight is maybe 1.5 degrees off to the left. I have yet to shoot with the new barrel but I expect it to shoot fine.
