Barrel nut alignment Gauge
Worked perfect along with shim kit to get Gas tube alignment proper. Probably could have used a drill bit in the gas key to do the same alignment test. But happy with this tool and will probably never have to use it again. No more Retro "builds" in the future.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

handy
it takes the guess work out of making sure the gas tube aligns up correctly

Just buy it!
Just what I needed. Little tools like this go a long way when building or maintaining your firearms. For the price it’s a must have for your tool box. Build with confidence knowing your barrel is correctly positioned, inexpensive tools like this saves you hundreds. Most important you avoid injuries from accidents caused by improper construction of your rifle, this is above all the most important.

Don't leave home without
Follow instructions. I had functioning issues related to installing the wonderful JP handguard. Gun would cycle but not hold open or lock back. The dreaded gas tube misalignment disease. Used this tool on 4 upper builds. All function issued ceased. Problems solved.

Not bad
The gauge itself is fine quality and does just what its supposed to. I read a variety of opinions on whether the tool was necessary, but having never installed a barrel, I errored towards being extra prepared and bought it. At $7 it wasnt much of a risk. After having now installed a barrel, I have to agree that its useful but not really necessary. I found that while the gauge provided a quick check on alignment, a visual inspection allowed my actual fine tuning.

A simple part that works as advertised
This part works as described, but is so simple, you could make one yourself from a rod purchased at [...].

Simple, yet effective
For such a simple part, this is quite effective. Saves time and effort aligning the barrel nut.

works great
Bought this so I wouldn't have to always be bringing tubes and stuff to block to help align and it works good as I had lost my other drill bit I used and just decided it could stay with gun tools. The milling on it is about the roughest, crudest, worst I have seen but hey it's not for use other than a guage

Save your money
This tool works, but a gas tube can be used just as easily. Luckily it wasn't very expensive, but it really isn't necessary.
