DOESNT FIT
I bought this handguard because of the good low price. But it didnt fit as-is like its supposed to. I had to dremel off a lot of material on the inside of the rear end. There was a lot of extra excess material. I guess the mold used to make them wasnt to spec and there was way more material than needed. I was only able to fit it with a lot of modification
Not good
This is my second handguard from DoubleStar and I have to say that both times they have been total junk. The polymer felt so thin I can't believe there were no cracks them. The matte finish and feel of them are fine but makes the ones that come on PSA and other manufactured AR-15s look and feel like they're Cadillacs. I've seen cheap Mil-spec handguards that put these to shame - and Mil-spec stuff is known for being just good enough. If you want a cheap handguard that is just there to keep something over your barrel and not burn your hands, and don't really care much for quality, then this will be fine for you. If you want something that's cheap, made in America, but not quality - then by all means, get it.
Inexpensive, doesn’t want to fit
I ordered these to try on an M4 that came equipped with the fat Colt double heat shield hand guards. I’ve been unable to get these to install. They just don’t fit. They flex and bend. They were less than $10.00! If I decide to sell an old, cheap carbine upper I might might trim these to fit, just to get rid of them. I wouldn’t order them again.
Toy Gun Quality.
Hand guards arrived, upon opening packaging, noticed the "heat guards" were poor quality metal shoved onto plastic mounts on the hand guards. After inspecting said "heat shield", I moved onto the handguards themselves only to realize that it felt as though they would belong on some sort of toy gun, or airsoft gun from a cheap manufacturer. These handguards will not last, I snapped one in half by placing it in the palm of my hand and squeezing, applying a slight amount of force, which was enough for the plastic to completely snap in half. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra 5-10$ on something better.
