Works
Works as it claims. If Your having bolt locking problems in all likelihood your spring is A: too long or B: too stiff or C: A&B. Had a friend with locking issues & his spring was using wire that was 0.005" thicker than mine. We swapped springs & swapped which rifle had the problem.
It deserves a higher rating. It works.
This product does everthing it says and nothing it does not. I install these in every AR I own and it does take the "twang" that all AR's make when fired. Anything to help make the weapon quieter is a good thing. If the "twang doesn't bother you, don't buy it. If you want that sound eliminated completely then I highly recommend it because it does do what it says.
works well in my 9mm dpms style ar
I bought one for my 9mm ar, and it worked perfectly, so I bought several more, and havn't had a single problem. Some of those over-power springs have a few extra coils, so the spring is longer when fully compressed. That may be the problem that others are having. If 1/16 inch piece of plastic is going to prevent your bolt from going all the way back, get a better spring. Those flat wire springs work great! Brownells # 452-000-119WB or 840-000-048WB
works good
ive had it for 3 months works and have never had any problems with my rifle. would def recamend it.
Ok part
It does what it's supposed to do in regards to quieting down the spring noise. But it does have the annoying habit of not letting the bolt lock all the way back after the last round is fired. Not sure if this is due to the combo of running the recoil pad too. When I installed this I was only using .223 55gr, when I stepped up to 5.56 62gr, the issue was not there as often. I'll use it some more, but we'll see what happens in the next 300+rds.
Can be problematic.
It does reduce the twang as it says, but in my RRA it reduced the bolt stroke enough that my bold catch would not catch every time. It also caused my bolt to short stroke on occasion and jam the rifle. If you buy this, before installing lock back your bolt and carrier all the way by hand, hold it there and visual check the distance between your bolt face and bolt catch. After installing the buster check that gap again to see if you still have enough to compensate for loads that may not be full power. My RRA went from about a little less than a 1/4" gap to about 10 thousands only. Just thoroughly check function before relying on it.
Not bad
Does what it says although it causes bolt catch to malfuntion
Meh..
Does stop the annoying twang but it prevented the bolt catch from operating properly on my DPMS AP4. All in all, if you need your bolt catch to work I'd avoid this device, if you don't care about the bolt catch give it a shot.
Does not work as advertised,
I purchased the twang buster and installed it my Palmetto State Armory A2 lower buffer assembley. This product does absolutely nothing to reduce the sound of the buffer working, causes the buffer to bottom out too soon- resulting in excess wear on the face of the buffer being smashed by the bolt carrier, and as a kicker, is incredibly difficult to remove once installed. Do not purchase this item. Waste of time, waste of money, causes excess wear on your firearm.
Save yer money
It's really the spring in the tube of the stock that "twangs" and this does nothing for that - in fact after installing it, the bolt wouldn't lock up manually or after the last shot. Can't return these fast enough.
