AR-15/M16 NiB-X® COATED UPPER RECEIVER

AR-15/M16 NiB-X® COATED UPPER RECEIVER Reviews & Ratings

Stripped receiver has WMD’s NiB-X® nickel boron coating inside and out to provide an exceptionally tough, ultra-smooth surface finish for outstanding wear resistance and lubricity. A ceramic topcoat is applied for color on the exterior only, leaving the nickel boron exposed inside to keep friction with the bolt carrier to the absolute minimum. Works great with standard carriers, too, but even smoother with nickel boron coated bolt carriers, including WMD’s NiB-X® coated carrier, available separately. M4 feed ramps ensure reliable feeding.

SPECS: 7075 T6 aluminum, NiB-X® coating with matte ceramic finish, Black or Flat Dark Earth. Stripped receiver only. Fits standard AR-15/M16 lowers, and accepts standard barrels and upper receiver parts. .250" dia. pivot/takedown pin holes. M4 feed ramps.

Ordered this Upper in FDE to try it out. Have always liked the company's Bolt Carriers. Unfortunately this upper was a real challenge. The exterior coating was so thick the take down pins were a struggle. Had to remove some material from the front to get the take down pin to fit on a BCM lower. The threads for the barrel nut were so gummed up, my BCM barrel nut wouldn't thread. Had to use a wire wheel to remove material just to thread the barrel nut. And to top it off the index cut for the barrel extension pin was off by a few degrees, so the feed ramps on the barrel extension are now off. Rotated feed ramps were the last straw. I scrapped the upper. It was a nice idea but the one I got was just garbage. Go with Vltor MUR or a different reputable company. AVOID this one at all costs.

The pivot pin hole was too small. Pin would not go through. Returned the item.

bad
Did not fit my milspec colt lower or Franklin Armory billet lower. Finish looked ok and matched Magpul FDE.
