The MOE SL® Hand Guard, Carbine-Length – AR15/M4 for firearms with carbine-length gas systems and an A2 front sight* provides modular flexibility with M-LOK® accessory slots in a lightweight, sleek, cost-effective design. Designed with versatility in mind, M-LOK slots at the two, six, and ten o'clock positions allow the attachment of optional Picatinny rail sections and other direct-attach M-LOK accessories for the mounting of tactical lights, slings, grips, etc.

Reinforced, heat-resistant polymer construction provides operational durability without the weight and expense of an aluminum rail hand guard. A large front extension and lower lip protects the user from the hot front sight assembly and maximizes useable hand guard length.

A Compromised Solution

Rethinking rural, home defense strategies, I needed a way to mount a light on my AR. My previous Magpul hand guard did not have suitable M-Lok slots, so I bought this. It was a bear to get on the rifle. You'll need a punch to remove the front sling swivel since the two are not compatible. And I regret having passed on buying a $10 delta ring tool at the last gun show. But now that it's on my rifle and the bloody pinch on my finger is healing... The hand guard places the light in a perfect position to be operated with my left thumb as I take a more traditional, old school stance with the gun (with elbows down and close in). So far, it seems like a solid accessory.

OK but needs improvement

If you have a EOtech red dot and want to mount it forward enough to put flip up sights behind it this handguard sits too high to allow that. I have the older style with AA batteries and once mounted on top the A3 upper I cannot mount it far enough forward to put a back up sight behind it. Would work if you had a newer Cr123 battery EOtech. I like everything about this handguard except the what is described above.
