If you like sanding, this is the block for you…….
It was not until I started watching SOTAR videos I realized there was so much variance in "mil spec". I sanded this block down to fit one Aero M4E1. It fit snug but was a tad looser on another Aero M4E1. Just know there is a lot of variance in lower receivers. Do not regret, as it still works for intended purpose after modification for my specific scenario.

If you purchase this lower receiver vise block you won't regret it! Although there are cheaper versions out there, none match the quality of Brownells lower receiver vise block. This works great. But I had to sand it down with power sander, 5 minutes, to fit lower perfect. Maybe dont buy this if you don't want to adjust fit. But since tight? you can personalize fit!!! In this life, fit does not always work. I am glad when i can use a tool that does, or can be made to do so.

These are a hard plastic you can really put some torque on but didn't mar my cerakote finish. The upper block fit my assembled A4 upper perfectly. I completely forgot to use the "bolt" insert to prevent crushing, but the fit was perfect and the BCG works fine.

I read all of the reviews before buying. Even then, I did not understand why people were complaining about having to fit this. But I figured I would wait and see if the complaints were warranted. They were not. Yes, you may need to fit it, but I would rather have it over-sized to begin with than be too loose because they made it small enough to fit every receiver. It took me about 5 minutes with some medium grip sandpaper to get it to fit snug, but not too tight. Tip: If you use sandpaper, it will roughen up the surface. When you test fit it. you will see exactly where you need to sand more, because that area will be smooth and shiny. No need to be sanding everywhere if it is only rubbing in one or two spots.

I can't believe how many lowers I managed to get together before getting a vise and this block. Talk about making life much easier, the quality of my lower build has went up too. With the correct punch set, a vise, and block you can breeze through installation and have lesser chance of marking up that new lower. In my opinion this is a necessary tool for any AR builders tools kit.

I have had this set for four years and it has worked very well. A must have for Barrel removal/ installs. It was designed for Mil-Spec. Recievers. They have a different type of mag release than a Stag and some others, so be careful when ordering the Kit vs. the upper block It may not fit(lower mag. block) some billet lowers, depending on the tolerance. Overall I find it an indispensable tool. well worth the purchase price! Stag sells there own Lower vise block that fits their lowers as well as many others, I have found that if the brownells block is tight or does not fit the Stag block will. Just something I have learned over the trials and errors in years of Gunsmithing.
