AR-15/M16 IMPROVED REDI-MAG

AR-15/M16 IMPROVED REDI-MAG Reviews & Ratings

Don’t lose precious seconds in competition or combat fumbling for a spare magazine during a reload. This rugged speed loading system clamps directly to the lower receiver of any AR-15/M16 rifle or carbine and securely holds a second, fully loaded magazine alongside the mag well for super-fast mag changes. More reliable and easier to use than improvised methods, like taping two magazines together, that can cause malfunctions at critical moments. Closed-top design protects the spare mag from rain, dirt, dust, and debris and prevents the top round from jumping forward under recoil. Independent release system lets you drop the spare mag and the mag in the weapon separately to allow tactical reloads and greater flexibility in clearing malfunctions. Bolt Catch Extension (BCE) mounts directly to the factory bolt catch and lets you release the bolt, with or without the Redi-Mag attached to the gun, simply by slapping the BCE with an open palm. Installation requires no permanent alterations to receiver or mag well. Designed for mil-spec receivers; may not fit custom billet receivers. Steel model available in Standard configuration model that enables faster installation and removal of the entire Redi-Mag from the weapon.

SPECS: Steel, Parkerized, or 6061 T6 aluminum, hardcoat anodized, both dark gray, with reinforced molded polymer BCE and spacer. 3Ð…" (8.9cm) long, 2Ð…" (6.4cm) wide, 2Ñ•" (7cm) high. Weight: 8.4 oz. (234g) (steel), 5.6 oz. (159 g) (aluminum). Fits AR-15/M16/M4 rifles and carbines with standard forged lower receiver.

Mag ready
I've been thinking of getting this for years. I was concerned the steel would be too heavy. After installing I picked up the ar and realized it wasn't bad at all. Besides once you install a full mag "it's heavy!" Installation was pretty simple. I used a small clamp to hold the screw section together to install the screws though it did come with a screw and nut to do the same thing. The worst part was the nylon nuts. That was a bit of a PITA but with the right tools still hardly an issue. I use 20 rounders for general SD since I'm not in LE. Im also left handed and it worked well for me. A little practice and mag changes were quick and easy. I'll keep practicing to make sure it's second nature. I'm going to install another on my house SBR. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Must have for tactical reloads
I've had this on my AR15 for well over 10 years and it's the old version. Once you are adapted to it, you will find you are the fastest guy on the line as your backup mag is right with you. Has never failed to drop the mag. Simply grab the reload mag before you punch the mag release and as the empty mag drops free, slide in your backup mag. It does make your gun heavier but doesn't seem to affect the balance. I'm ordering a new aluminum RediMag for a new gun. Works with BAD lever, another must have.

Mine has been in service on my duty rifle for over 10yrs. No problems whatsoever. Would definitley buy again. Some things are "cool". This item is USEFUL.

Fast/Tactical reload a must? Get this!
This product is GREAT! Hands down. It keeps a fully loaded mag right next to the one in the gun. Just hold the full one, drop the empty and switch 'em. Left handed AR owner? Works just fine for us (yes, I'm one too)though it's not a must, I would recommend the Magpul B.A.D Lever. It works with the Redi-Mag and makes it a lot easier to operate the bold release.

Great Product
Gives you a spare mag without having to mess with pouches. You're hand doesn't have to leave the rifle for more than a couple of seconds. Does not work well with PMAGs since they only have a small indent.

Best addon since an optic
I run the Redimag on my patrol rifle. I am not an AR junkie that adds on every new shinny thing that comes out, I run a sling, optic, and light. I use my rifle as a tool to do my job not to look cool. The Redimag is a needed addon. No other spare mag carrier holds ammo as secure and deploys so rapidly. It's a must have! A little struggling to put on, but anyone can do it. I wish the rubber gaskets that protect the AR magwell from scratches was one piece instead of three. However once its on, it's secure and greatly increases reloading speed.

Solid mount
If you want to have a spare mag solidly attached to the weapon this is the way to go. Unlike pouches or rail mounted mag holders this allows the user to have a spare in a very natural spot. Perfect for when you are required to be condition 4 but want to have a mag ready to go (LE/Military). Great for 3 gun or carbine matches or anywhere a quick reload is needed. The bolt release button is a bit small but a solid smack with the heel of your hand to the side of the receiver will send the bolt forward anyway.

installation is a pain
This thing was a PITA to install. The screw holes didn't want to line up and my Magpul BAD lever was rubbing so I had to take the Dremel tool to it. After all the hassle getting it on my lower I found it doesn't like LMT MRP uppers. The Redi-Mag hits the area just behind the barrel screws. I was able to get the upper mounted, but its pushing the Redi-Mag out just a enough that the flared floor plates on my Pmags are touching. It doesn't look like it'll be enough to stop a mag from dropping free but time will tell.

Will not fit commercial lowers
This will only fit lowers that have a removable trigger guard. It will not fit lowers that have a molded in trigger guard as many commercial lowers do.
