AR-15/M16 733 C7 11.5" 5.56 UPPER RECEIVER

AR-15/M16 733 C7 11.5" 5.56 UPPER RECEIVER Reviews & Ratings

The Brownells 733 C7 Upper Receiver, a classic reborn!

Featuring an 11.5" lightweight "A1" profile barrel, 1-7 twist, C7 upper with shell defector and a CAR handguards, the Commando is a unique entry into the AR-15 series. It is a mix of old school and new school, a transition from the M16A1 to the M4 platform of today.

The 733 C7 includes enough modern features to make it a viable "go to" setup, especially for those seeking a carry handle receiver. The A1 rear sight nestled in the C7 upper receiver, is known for being extremely robust and dependable. The C7 upper, originally only found on Canadian AR-15 models, is a blend of the M16A1 and M16A2, being essentially an M16A1 receiver with the "Burton bump" shell deflector found on the M16A2 receiver. This lefty friendly feature is now commonplace on modern forged uppers.

The barrel is 11.5 inches in length, with a 5.56x45mm chamber and 1-7 twist, making it a unique carry handle configuration with the tighter twist. The barrel features a chrome bore and chamber with a phosphate exterior finish. This light barrel makes the short upper extemely handy. The barrel is capped with an A1 flash hider. The included bolt carrier group is a standard mil-spec version, with a phosphate exterior and chrome interior carrier and gas key.

Features:
  • C7 type upper receiver with shell deflector
  • A1 flash hider

Turn up the HEAT!
Excellent quality upper. Used this to build my HEAT 733 clone. Replaced the teardrop forward assist for a normal one. Zeroed at 25 meters and tested accuracy out to 250 meters. Great groupings within 1.5 inches at 25m. Shoots loud and proud without any malfunctions with steel and brass case ammo.

Retro cool...
Personally I love the M733 rifle so much I had to purchase this particular upper. Fit and finish was great. No flaws or blemishes what so ever. I don't know if Brownells zeroed my upper after assembly but it took very few adjustments to achieve my preferred POI. When I mated it with a registered lower of mine, the total weight of the rifle, with fully loaded mag, was around 8 pounds or just under. The pencil barrel makes the entire package a light, quick and handy carbine. Zero malfunctions when it came to shooting my 55gr .223 reloads. This is definitely my favorite retro upper and completely satisfied with it.

old school look
the price for this upper is approaching the high side but i am happy with quality of upper finish. well worth it. square forge receiver, looking thru bottom side of heatshield, barrel marked luth ar5.56 1/7 c for chrome, mil spec bolt carrier looks good staking ok, description says no m4 feed ramps however the upper i received has just the beginning of m4 feed ramps slight milling in aluminum where barrel ext. mates with receiver. not a problem. i like the small barrel profile, small handguard, slightly tapered front sight post, this upper goes with a pistol lower with the new h and r brace. nice light package. h2 buffer,55 grain fmj, cyles great. highly recommend

This review brought to you by Carry Handle Gang
This complete upper receiver looks great, no issues that I see with the BCG, charging handle, or sights. Only complaint is that it doesn't come with M4 feed ramps, but that wouldn't be clone correct. It definitely would be a practical improvement that's not seen without close inspection. I did have to ask customer support to confirm the A1 flash hider is NATO mil-spec because I have a suppressor coming that can use NATO mil-spec muzzle devices to mount.

AR carry handle top assembly
I have been trying to find one of these carry-handle topend assemblies for many years. I am really thankful that your company changed my quest into a reality.

Replica Colt 733/C7 Upper
The 733 C7 11.5" Upper Receiver is very well made. Got it to use on my registered SBR lower (Aero Precision M4A1 type). Right out of the box it ran great, 300 round test with no issues. Accuracy was excellent with M193 55gr FMJ ammo. So far am very happy with my purchase for a retro 733 upper.

Way over gassed
I love the upper, but I worry about the longevity. This thing beats itself up, bad. The BCG had insaine wear after 90 rounds. I am using a blue springco and H2 buffer, and still getting 2 oclock ejection

Is it even good enough to be called a range toy?
Brownells replaced the upper once because of over-gassing. I have put only 709 rounds in it, and I have blown the gas rings and the fire pin retaining pin is all bent out of shape. 709 rounds only. I am using a H3 buffer, and red sprinco spring. This gun wont last long the way it beats itself. Brownell's tech told me there is nothing they can do for me. I did not intend to buy a range toy.
