With its more than 100-year legacy of exceptional barrel manufacturing, FNH USA has long perfected the cold hammer forging process to ensure accuracy and durability. These AR-15/M16 barrels are hammer forged using the same proprietary high-grade Chrome Moly Vanadium steel used in FN’s venerable machinegun barrels produced to handle the punishment of sustained fully-automatic fire. After forging, each barrel is Magnetic Particle tested to ensure that it is free of micro-stresses or flaws, resulting in consistency and quality in every barrel shipped from the factory. The bore and chamber are chrome lined to help resist corrosion and provide resistance to heat erosion which greatly improves barrel life and reliable chambering/extraction. The M4 style feed ramps and barrel extension provide reliable and consistent feeding and the matte black Manganese Phosphate finish resists external corrosion and oxidation. Currently available in a chambering of 5.56x45mm in 14.5” Carbine, 16” Carbine, 16” Mid-length, and 18” and 20” Rifle length gas systems, FNH USA Hammer Forged Barrels will provide you with a Distinct AdvantageTM, no matter your application. This rifle is my first AR15 that I personally built, Followed all the instructions per a qualified gun smith at mid west industries. Its supposed to be a SPR build for precision and regretfully I didn't pay closer attention to detail when purchasing a barrel but I have learned. Ill get to the point. 69 grain Federal Gold medal match 1.3MOA, 77 grain federal Gold medal Match, 1.6MOA, 75 grain Hornady Superformance Match 5MOA, 75 grain Hornady Match 1.3MOA, 77 grain SMK PMC match 1.5 MOA, 55 grain AMAX hornady TAP .8MOA, I tested about 16 different handloads using a variety of powder from IMR 8208 to H335 to Varget. I precision loaded each round and I have spent about 150 dollars in ammo just to see its accuracy potential. I could only find THREE loads that shot sub MOA, and barely sub MOA at that. anywhere from .7-1 MOA exactly, they included 69 grain SMK, 62 grain Barnes TSX. I will be sending this barrel back. Functionally its fine, its a perfectly acceptable military spec barrel and would shoot M855a1 or Mk318 by a trained Marine or soldier into a Minute of Man easily out to 500 yards. However for a SPR, I need to engage presicily out to 600 yards+ its not up to the task.
