With its more than 100-year legacy of exceptional barrel manufacturing, FNH USA has long perfected the cold hammer forging process to ensure accuracy and durability. These AR-15/M16 barrels are hammer forged using the same proprietary high-grade Chrome Moly Vanadium steel used in FN’s venerable machinegun barrels produced to handle the punishment of sustained fully-automatic fire. After forging, each barrel is Magnetic Particle tested to ensure that it is free of micro-stresses or flaws, resulting in consistency and quality in every barrel shipped from the factory. The bore and chamber are chrome lined to help resist corrosion and provide resistance to heat erosion which greatly improves barrel life and reliable chambering/extraction. The M4 style feed ramps and barrel extension provide reliable and consistent feeding and the matte black Manganese Phosphate finish resists external corrosion and oxidation. Currently available in a chambering of 5.56x45mm in 14.5” Carbine, 16” Carbine, 16” Mid-length, and 18” and 20” Rifle length gas systems, FNH USA Hammer Forged Barrels will provide you with a Distinct AdvantageTM, no matter your application. All models are .750 at the gas block.

FN barrels, always among the best
I've only had this one a few days, but I can verify it's exactly what I ordered, it was well packaged, and shipping was unbelievably fast. Bottom line, it's without doubt an excellent barrel. My only grumble would be from the fact the heavy plastic bag it was once sealed into had been sliced open already and it looked pretty obvious to me the barrel had been handled quite a bit and perhaps been mounted once already. That said, there was no obvious damage or corrosion present, and no indications it had been fired, so I'm not inclined to fret over it, but I would think Brownell's would not be sending out what's in essence an open box item with notice of such.
