AR-15/308 AR LUG RECESS CLEANING TOOL

AR-15/308 AR LUG RECESS CLEANING TOOL Reviews & Ratings

This one of a kind tool is used to clean the lug recess area on the AR-15 and 308 AR rifles. The lug recess area collects a lot of grease and debris and needs to be cleaned regularly. This tool compresses a cotton roll and then releases it so you can rotate it inside the lug recess area. Should be used wet with solvent, then followed up with a dry roll. One bag of cotton rolls, about 50, is included with each tool.

Cotton Rolls for AR Lug Recess Tool
I purchased several packs of these cotton rolls several years ago. They were thick and full. These, now are small and don't really get the job done. ...I guess something is better than nothing.

Handle Comes Off
I have owned two of these. I bought both of them at Camp Perry. The problem is although it does a good job, is that the handle breaks and comes off. I would think that since I have owned two of these and both had the handles come off that it is a product defect. I am not buying another one.

Not very impressed
I have had this product for several years and found that it does not extract much of the fouling between or beyond the locking lugs (it's not designed to go into the chamber). Once the cleaning wad is "deployed", it does not rotate well to extract the fouling. Even if you use an in an out motion instead of rotating the tool, there is not much difference. Also, the plug becomes dislodged from the handle if much movement of the handle occurs, which is frustrating to pick out. It does not make any difference if the cotton plugs are used wet or dry. I get a lot more junk out with Q-tips. Those long wooden Q-tips are especially nice for this purpose. I would not recommend it, even though the manufacturing tolerances are at the usual very high Sinclair standards.
